The Value of Professional Photography

By

How Buyers do you have asking why the photos are SO BAD at some of the listings?   Why are there only 6 or so photos, when MLS allows 35 photos to be uploaded?   Why are photos taken up close of the bed when it is definitely personal property and will not remain in the home after closing?

The "eye buys" and professional photography will give a Seller the edge to get Buyers into your home.    These photographers have wide-angled lens on their cameras and can get a complete room in the photo.   They also have photo editing equipment to put the best light into a room.   This way you won't have dark rooms!   The photos are clear and beautiful!

Taking photos with today's cell phones can provide much better photos than they did years ago, but why take a chance?    Have seen cell phone photos change colors of wood, and walls.

If your property has mountain views, having a professional photographer taking those photos, they will look very nice, versus what we usually have available.     Many professional photography companies also offer a video, which is nice to embed into blogs, on a website and social media sites.    This gives a Seller the best possible exposure.

Sellers deserve the best photos of their home to entice Buyers!

Nina Hollander I so agree, and wonder if they see their listing at all!   That is one topic I emphasize when at a listing, they WILL get professional photography to showcase their property.

Sheri, that is why we should leave the professional photography to someone else!

Sharon Tara and sadly I had to look through less than 10 listings to find this sad photo!    I thought I would find a table, which is pretty common too, and not a photo of a room!   It is very sad.

Joan, some years ago I decided to take a photography class. I did it after I was given a set of photos from a pro photographer that did not capture everything I wanted about a home. I now do my own photos...but I take tons of pictures so I do not miss what a pro might catch in one shot.

It is interesting how personal property close ups get selected, as you say they are not staying, we need photos of rooms, not furniture.

Photography has always been Realtor's Achille's heel. I occasionally see a new listing without any photos. Yes, our MLS still allows this.

One other pet peeve about this, I would rather see 2-3 good photos of an area rather than 6-8 even if it means taking less than the allowed limit of 50 here. cheers cvc

Joan - absolutely right. That professional photo online catches the eye. The eye says let's see that house.

Good morning, Joan - not just bad quality or poorly shot but the photos that are chosen at times(dirty dishes in a sink, unmade bed, lots of clutter) make for a head-scratching experience.   Huh???

I don't understand why sellers put up with the bad photos on their properties. Don't they look up their listings?

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty good job, and that makes such a difference, versus those REALTORS that have never taken a class and trying photography with their cell phone!

Nick, exactly, and so often it is only of the furniture in that room!

Curtis Van Carter our MLS accepts no photos too, and another disservice to the Seller.   We do not see many, but enough.

I can't believe the poor quality photos we see in our RMLS. It's embarrassing, and not just the least expensive homes either. It's amazing to see a luxury home with sub-par photos. I don't get it.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I was looking this week for $1 million+ and amazed at some that were awful.   Cannot believe a Seller doesn't look at their own listing!
