Sometimes you have to experiment and try something new or different.
I never cared for cranberry sauce although I know that many people do like it. So while shopping the other day for Thanksgiving dinner items, I saw fresh cranberries and on a whim decided to buy some.
I didn't even know what I wanted to do with them nor did I have a recipe for them but I thought maybe I would make some sort of bread with fresh cranberries.
Once home, I decided to keep it simple and try a sauce. I cooked the cranberries according to the recipe on the bag but added a finely chopped Granny Smith apple, a stick of cinnamon, 4-5 cloves, and reduced the sugar to 2/3 of a cup.
The result was delicious. Nice color, it smelled great, and a great taste, a little tart and very fruity.
We decided to have it hot over Vanilla ice cream! Maybe not the traditional way to enjoy cranberry sauce but definitely one way I love it!
The experiment was successful and I'm thankful for trying something new.
