Delray Beach...Mother Nature Shows Once Again Who’s Boss!

What a week! Please keep all of those who were in the path of Hurricane Michael in your thoughts and prayers. Those of us in South Florida have been the recipients of all of the love and generosity from others after Hurricane Irma. (and other hurricanes)

If you can, I hope that you will consider helping those in the Florida Panhandle.

People need to be cautious because anything built by man can be destroyed by Mother Nature. Russel Honore

We have friends who live in Panama City and finally found out today (Friday) that they are alive and well. Their house is gone as is their RV.

If you can't be in awe of Mother Nature, there's something wrong with you. Alex Trebek

When we have these weather events, it’s we want to check on our fellow ActiveRain members. I heard from Joel Jadofsky who had no power or cell service and drove 40 miles to get some kind of service.

Mother Nature is the great equalizer. You can't get away from it. Christopher Heyerdahl

It has been so hard seeing the homes that are no longer there...just slabs. So many people not just without water or power but no home to return to.  And the death toll will unfortunately rise.

Good morning Kathy.  Watching the reports from the panhandle shows the serious devastation that Michael has brought.

The quotes you picked are lovely, and we all have our prayers and wishes.  Resilience is indeed something to cultivate in oneself.  A

Hi Kathy,
It's horrible.  I have friends who sold everything here in Wenatchee in the last few weeks in order to move to PanamaCity.   They were, literally, on the road driving to Panama City when the hurricane hit. When they got there, the home was gone, and now they have to figure out what to do.  They've decided to go to Bradenton to a family members house and regroup.

Mother Nature is indeed a force to be reckoned with, that is incredibly sad that people have lost thier home, but it is definitely good news that they are alive and well.

We have extended family in Panama City.  They had their HVAC blown away, and are missing shingles, but otherwise are OK.  Their neighbor's house a few doors away was completely demolished.

Hi Gita Bantwal Thank you. They are still searching for people.

I agree with you Grant Schneider In some areas, it does look like a tornado hit.

Michael Jacobs thank you, and I wish you the same.

Barbara Todaro seeing the slabs where there were homes is mind boggling.

Wayne Martin I saw a video of the surge just about covering a house. It was something I'd not seen before.

Sheila Anderson she lets you know who's in charge.

Sharon Lee the surge and the trees caused so much damage.

Susan Haughton that is often the case with hurricanes. During one of our hurricanes, Larry and I are convinced that a small tornado blew up our shed that had 10 full dive tanks in it.

Donald Urschalitz I agree. Just seeing the photos makes you shake your head. We've not seen that here. Or at least I haven't. And good for the local Realtor's Assn.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I think that many of the homes were built pre-new building codes. It is so hard to imagine.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I have to admit that Larry and I were glued to the Weather Channel.

Myrl Jeffcoat Glad to hear that they're safe. I was concerned for the falling trees on those houses.

Oh, my heart goes out to those who lost everything...and those who were in the path of this devastating event, Kathy. It breaks my heart to see those empty lots that were formerly someone's home, holding all of their possessions, never to be seen again.

You're so right, Mother Nature showed who's boss. I'm glad to hear your friends are okay too. I have family in Panama City and we still haven't heard from them.

Hi Kathy

The stories from Flordid’s Panhandle have been horrible, and other areas, too. Mother Nature never hesitates to remind us of our fragility.
