What I Told Someone This Week to Do While Going to Real Estate School

By
Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart

First, I confirmed with him that he had initially grew up here in Phoenix.

Therefore, he went to school here, and graduated five years ago.

Next, I confirmed there were at least 50 people who knew him who he went to school with.

Then I told him, make a list of the 50 people, find their telephone numbers, get their email addresses, and locate their mailing addresses.

During your last two weeks of real estate school, enthusiastically contact every one of them.

Tell each you were thinking of them and your days in school.

And let each of them know you are excited that you are going to become a Realtor in a couple of weeks.

Ask this way:

I would like to ask you for some help

And I only want your help if you are comfortable

If you are not comfortable, I’ll understand just say so.

Who do you know who is thinking of selling?

Who is the first person to up size, down size, get a bigger yard, smaller yard?

More bedrooms, less bedrooms?

Maybe someone they know from school, work, church, their neighbors?

Who comes to your mind first?

Then text each of them thanking them for their time and say great talking with you again.

Now two days later mail them a thank you note saying he same thing in the mail. Maybe include: “let’s get together for lunch and offer two optional times.”

Now you have a reason to call them again in a week, to see which time they want to have lunch.

Hi Dan- this is something that everyone should do to keep their pipeline open. But those new to the profession may not feel comfortable trying this so you've given them some excellent tips on how to handle it.
