- Georgia 5th Congressional District -
September 29th
Seven candidates are running in an all-party special general election on September 29, 2020 to fill the seat in Georgia's 5th Congressional District left vacant after the death of Rep. John Lewis (D). Candidates selected by their respective parties for the November 3rd election opted to not run in the September special election: Nikema Williams (D) and Angela Stanton King (R).
Remaining candidates are: Keisha Sean Waites (D) - Barrington Martin II (D) - Kwanza Hall (D)
Mable Thomas (D) Steven Muhammad (I) Chase Oliver (L) and Robert M. Franklin (D).

EDIT -- results chart:
About the election:
The contest is to fill the seat left empty when John Lewis died. The winner of this race will serve the remainder of Lewis’ Congressional term through January 3, 2021. In case no candidate receives at least 50% of the vote, the top two contenders will advance to a December 1st runoff election.
Interesting fact to consider:
If a candidate wins the primary outright, the winner's time in Congress will last 96 days.
However, if the election advances to a runoff, the tenure in Congress will last 33 days.
Either way, the winner can say, "I was elected to Congress."
REMEMBER ONE THING:
If you go to vote in the Special Election on Tuesday, September 29th, that will probably be the most weighted voted vote of your lifetime! Unfortunately, a low turnout is expected...
