It's Elf Time!

Since the first year in this home (1998) we've always hosted a fancy Black Tie Christmas Party. Lots and lots of great memories with a lot of friends and family.  Around about 2008 when the market crashed and RE was taking a hit we decided to shake things up a bit for our biggest event of the year.

 

Nobody was very interested in spending a lot of money on fancy clothes or tuxes.  So we thought, why not host a Christmas Pajama Party.  OMG it was brilliant. People loved it so much we haven't gone back to the fancy blank tie parties - since.  We change up the theme every year. Who knows what I'll come up with every year. Of course this year we'll live vicariously through pics!

 

Most of you know Gary is (was) an aerospace engineer.  Did you ever think an engineer would be the life of the party!!  He is!! This particular year he had all kinds of Elf Dances and  Elf Greetings for people entering the front door. OMG their reactions we so darn funny.  So much laughter and fun! It was totally crazy. He cracked everybody up big time!

I don't doubt that an aerospace engineer can be fun.  I worked at a software development company for several years.  And, I learned quickly that computer nerds also have another side to them.  Some were members of a rock band.  Another was a member of a Sacramento Opera company, who ultimately moved to Chatanooga and founded a theater company.

Hi Anna... I was raised in a very German Lutheran household... we did not ever have parties on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Those were quiet, albeit happy, celebrations with family only. To the day she died, my mother was appalled by all the drinks parties that went on on Christmas Eve. I must admit, I have inherited that attitude from her.
