A Sermon of Sorts. ..

Serendipitous?

I Am Not Sure But It’s Sunday

So Here It Is

The other day our East Valley AR friend Brian England authored a post on which I commented.  As I have said before, many comments here can become a conversation or even a post.

So, that’s the genesis of this post.  Well, that’s my story.  So, with some adjustments, here is my post which originally started as a comment.  Life and ActiveRain have that in common.  Again.

It’s often easy to blame the media(whoever that may be in your world) for sensationalism today but if we think back in history, we can see evidence of somewhat(at least) dubious behavior in many aspects of everyday life.  What occurs “out there” will or won’t happen regardless of what we say, do or think in many cases.  However, what “goes on” within us is where we have greater control.  Not total control, mind you but significant.

Admittedly, I am not always “in or under control” therefore I often “brand” or self-identify as a “work in progress”.

Are there arguments to the contrary whenever I proclaim such?  Sure.  And that’s part of the lesson.  Today and everyday.  Sermon over.  Go in peace.  Have a Super Day.

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist - hopefully it's moving forward.  At least that's my goal.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - passion, like emotions and some adult beverages, can be shaken/ stirred in order to achieve the best results.  It's all in that special combination.  Those secret and not-so-secret ingredients. As well as some good sleight of hand work.

Will Hamm - thanks but I think I might prefer to be one who speaks only on occassion.  A bit safer.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker - listening is key as your comment clearly states so well.  Truly listening works in so many circumstances.  It's a good message that should be repeated often.

Kathy Streib - in my opinion, no one wins in the blame game real winners understand there is something to be learned through careful listening along with better understanding.   Real connections make a difference.

Happy Sunday, Reverend Jacobs!

This is twice today, Brian England and I are on the same, identical wavelength!

I'm happy to be a work-in-progress; when that stops, I'll be in the pine box, 6-feet under! As for the opinions and blame game played these days, we can only be responsible for our own actions. Lord knows that's all I can handle!

Enjoyed the sermon...

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I am not sure if showing reverence is akin to blasphemous behavior or not but I often tread on thin ice.  There's no need to further "test the waters".  So to speak, that is.

Michael I grew up when the news was the News in the United States.... then I started seeing News Media people closing their evening news " ....and that is the way it is..." well I learned early to double check facts and it is truly sad that the ones with brains have to do that... the masses either do not or have no time or interest... so with that said depending which News they listen becomes their belief systems... reminds me of when I lived in Communist Hungary there was the "news" from the people in power... just to be clear that is why my parents left.... sad where we are today...Endre

Morning Michael.

I have a lot of opinions on a variety of subjects.  When someone wants to argue I ask myself, is it worth it?  Most of the time, not so much.  They won't change my mind and I know I won't change theirs.

Endre Barath, Jr. - I understand where you(and others) are coming from especially when it comes to news and the way of life in other countries.

James Dray - your comment reminds me of a question many ask themselves before speaking:  is it kind?  is the true?  is it necessary?  Admittedly, I don't follow this line of thinking ALL of the time but I find it useful when I do remember.

Sharon Lee - finding what "works" for you is an important part of life.   It(life) is definitely not one-size-fits-all.

Michael, sometimes I feel you cannot watch the news, as you hear what THEY want us to hear, not necessarily the true news.

Hi Michael Jacobs, in Turkey, they don't have the freedom of speaking their minds on social media and I have been criticizing this for years. Depending on which news outlet one listens to, stories change significantly. I never would have thought we would be where we are as a country. Thankfully, we can all manage our reactions, beliefs, the way we communicate, what we listen to. We are all responsible for our own actions. Great post!

Well said Michael!

A sermon I can certainly relate to and agree with.

I really liked the "go in peace" ending!

Beth Atalay - I am well-aware that we have greater freedom in this country that is particularly noticed by those who have lived elsewhere.  It's something I try to keep in perspective.  Emphasis on the "try" as I know there are times I need to be reminded.

Sharon Tara - I "played" around with that ending - I wanted a touch of humor but did not want to be disrespectful.  Hopefully, it came through.

Good afternoon Michael Jacobs ,

Loved the sermon and especially all the comments. I feel I have to be a work in progress like so many because with so many different points of views on so many things I have to listen and make my own decision on topics.  Listening now more than ever is so important and thinking before we speak is critical. I have to be responsible for my own actions so am concentrating on my thought process not a reaction to others views.

If there is a person who thinks they are not a work in progress, they are simply not very self-aware.  We evolve and grow every day in this ever changing world.
