Catching Those Thought Bubbles

Just Wondering On A Saturday

It seems to me thought bubbles would come in handy at times.  As we hear news of mask-wearing easing in some circles, perhaps it's time for a new must-have accessory. The use of a visible thought bubble could be a good addition as we ease our way back into some form of the next normalness.

After all, a thought bubble might be more effective(and possibly more efficient) than an audible sigh, a smirk or an eyeroll.  In some ways I miss each of them. It seems a mask, well - masks some of the subtler frorms of idea transmission. Let’s face it, effective communication is the goal but in the meantime, a good thought bubble may make ones point.  I wonder. . .

I don't want anyone to know what I'm thinking unless I choose to share it! So I'd say no to thought bubbles!

Michael, with these masks, no one has a smile, although sometimes you can see a twinkle in their eye.    Not sure what I would do with a thought bubble.

Joan Cox - mask-wearing forces one to be creative in communication at times.  Lots of head nods, some thumbs up and waving are just three of them --- thought bubbles were on my mind prior to the pandemic as a possible method.  Of course, it's far from perfect and the technical glitches(as well as the emotional ones)could pose a problem.

No way!  I would not want people to see my thoughts, haha.  That could get me in a lot of trouble.  It is easy enough for me to freely speak my mind out loud, so people seeing what I am thinking that I chose to keep silent would really be a bad thing, haha.

Brian England - silence is golden, isn't it.  And while the price of it can certainly fluctuate --- kindness remains a valuable part of ones persona.

I do not even need to ponder this one, Michael Jacobs

Not only no, but Hell NO!

I learned to appreciate the true value of mask-wearing as I could say something to people under the mask and they could not hear it.  Yet, I felt better saying it.

My thoughts are private and sacred until I choose to share them. No one gets into my mind, head, or thoughts unless I invite them in.

So, no thought bubbles for me.

The thought of a thought bubble needs to go out the other end.

Contrary to you thinking I am a chatterbox I do a lot more silent chatter that no one but God and I hear and that is probably best. Although I quite frequently talk to myself aloud as well and sometimes that is better unheard by others as well for a number of reasons.

Sharon Lee - I have long practiced talking to myself - outloud and otherwise.  It definitely "works" for me.

Hi Michael- we are only wearing masks when in stores but I have over the last year learned to be more communicative with my eyes and eyebrows. I have not yet mastered being Groucho Marx!

Michael,

I think that my observational skills have improved (?) as a result of masks.  I can see the thought bubbles in the eyes of folks we meet, as well as the smiles... Happy Saturday.  A

Michael, I have always observed other people doing facial and eye rolls. Over the decades I have learned to control my reactions and not give away what I am thinking by any  facial or other body part moves unless I want someone to know it subtly... now with this long worded comment let me tell you what I think of Thought Bubbles: ABSOLUTELY NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought bubbles, wow that would be a game changer, especially if the thinker couldn't control which bubbles floated above his/her head. Sort of like, forced truthfulness.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, CRB, Phoenix Broker - now that you mention it, as I look far back in my memory bank I seem to recall a television show(or maybe it was a movie) where "thought bubbles" played a role. . .    Of course, the details are a bit fuzzy.
