Almost every year I write a blog post similar to this one: What is Memorial Day & the Weekend all about? Well the answer is so easy: it is a time to remember and honor our fallen heroes. That is this weekend is all the soldiers in all four branches of the military who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy our freedom.
After almost fifteen months of social distancing, our lives have changed dramatically. Many people liked and got accustomed to gathering virtually to commemorate events like Christmas, New Years and the list goes on and on. I never did, I just appreciated that we could not have Open Houses and all buyers had to send me a PEAD and proof of funds to show that they were real buyers. I always disliked Zoom, I was perfectly fine with sending emails, text and talking to people on the phone, I did not need to be tied to my computer for one to two hours.
Let me be clear On Memorial Day, we honor those who gave their lives! They served in military service to our country and died for us. It is not the backyard barbeque. It is all about rememberance of these men and women and the sacrifice they made on our behalf.
Learn what you can do to honor these service members and it is important to keep them in your memory. So if you want to respect those who gave their lives for our freedom do not write post with headlines "Happy Memorial Day" it make me sad when I see these Headlines!
Try something like : In observance of Memorial Day! or In Honoring and Remembering Those who gave the ultimate sacrifice! Or write: ways to honor our fallen heroes.
Do not confuse it with Veterans Day, that is a different holiday too. It is not about thanking Veterans for their service! It is about thanking the mother's and father's whose children gave the ultimate sacrifice and died for our freedom! Thank the wives and husbands whose loved ones died for us!
