Wordless Wednesday...Turnaround is Fair Play

Years ago when Larry flew F-4’s, part of the maneuvering involved in delivering the ordinance (bombs) was to limit your exposure and obtain greater accuracy by doing what you and I call dive-bombing.

So when Larry checks the bluebird boxes he is always dive-bombed by the very protective parents. They are so animated that you can hear their wings flapping from several feet away.

They often come within a few feet of his head so I’m glad that he’s wearing a cap.

The dive bomber is now the dive bombee!

I know his pain, when I am around our sugars, the hummers are always pissed at me and are dive bombing.  Make it the best Wednesday you can, and thanks again for the post.  Bill Salvatore

Kathy, would they actually hit Larry?    Are they that aggressive?  That would be scary.

Good morning, Kathy Streib.   Do you remember the Seinfeld episode the bird ran into Elaine's head?  Birds can be dangerous!  Larry is a brave man!  😉

Kathy,

Our cats all had missing tufts on their heads.  The mockingbirds would be after them.  Quincy had a hummingbird after him, and yes he has a bald spot. it is actually growing back.

Grant Schneider Larry acts quickly and we always stop to look back and make sure that they return to the nest.

Michael Jacobs I cannot imagine us doing this twenty years ago. But it's a fun journey.

Wayne Martin  I laugh whenever they start dive bombing him. Turnaround is fair play.

Nina Hollander, Broker I agree!  I had my head pecked at once by a red-winged blackbird!  It hurt!

Bill Salvatore - YVP Blog it's easier to be around protective mama birds than protective mama gators!!!

Joan Cox They've come close but so far, no. I was pecked once and wasn't that close to the nest!!!

Oh no!   That would be bad.  We had a bird here that makes a mud nest, and they are very aggressive, and usually is at the front door.

George Souto I tried to get him to wear his bicycle helmet but I think his middle name is stubborn.

Rocky Dickerson I worry that the poor birds will get exhausted from flapping their wings so fast.

I thought there was something about not touching baby birds because mama bird would no longer take care of them. It is ok to touch the inside of the house? I know nothing about the care of birds or their houses. LOL
