Read a Child a Book You Like...What’s Yours?
Any holiday that has to do with reading is one where you can count me in. This day, from what I’ve read, is in honor of Kate Douglas Wiggin, a children’s author. One of her books was “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farms.”
Reading is so important in our lives, and it all begins before we even make an entrance into the world.
If nothing else, it can create a bond with the child that will last a long time. Children look forward to that time of day or night when you or some other parental figure sits down with them and opens the book to the first page.
Their vocabulary increases...it helps their attention span and listening skills. In addition, reading to a young child can open the doors to new worlds and concepts.
One of my favorites, besides most anything by Dr. Seuss, is “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Joffe Numeroff.
What about you? What book would you choose to read to a child?
There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them. Ray Bradbury
