Decorate Rooms in Your House With Just A Sharpie

SharpieI love a creative idea. Especially when it has something to do with decorating a room in the house.

Some of the best ideas are not expensive. Even if they don't cost much they do require your time an patience.

I wanted to share with you a truly creative basement room that was created on creme painted walls and $10 worth of Sharpies and Magic Markers.

The effect is rich and a work of art. This amazing decor by Charlie Kratzer of Lexington was featured in the The Lexington Herald Leader.

See the whole basement in 360-degree detail.

Carolyn - This might make your kids graffiti artists. They could be arrested later.

Lillie- Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great week.

Oh my goodness, this was fascinating!  I totally enjoyed the 360 degree tour, particularly the way in which depth of perspective was used in the drawings.  This artist turned his home into a canvas.

UNREAL.    Some people have lots of time on their hands, too.    But,  still,  brilliant.

Lola - I thought that 360 degree tour was absolutely amazing too! I'd love to do my art room that way.

Connie - Isn't it ?? I love how it turned out. That guy is quite an artist.

wow that is amazing - how cool - I would hate to paint over it - just think what a talented person could do with a set of water colors on these walls

Wow, that looks really good.  I would be too nervous to mess up my walls.  It's amazing what people can do. Thanks for sharing.

Lizette, it reminds me of the creativity of children. Now were children the ones that came up with this original idea?

I always got in trouble for trying to decorate my room that way.  Of course it didn't look the same as this maybe that was the problem.

Lizette--And I tried to keep the Sharpies out of my kids hands and off my walls! BTW--You should see what kids do to their shoes, backpacks and other things at school with their various colors of Sharpie markers. (NOT mine but I hear it is a popular trend! )My kids couldn't bring their colored Sharpies into middle school as the cool color pens always seemed to disappear...Popular with the teen crowd which seems to be full of budding graphic artists with a love for the unique colors! :)

His this guy contacted Sharpie?  I think they could build an advertising campaign around this use of

their product.  Nice post, thanks.

Thesa - Hopefully it would look too good to paint over.

Jen-I would like to do it too. I afraid I might pick some intricate design and it take forever to complete.

Gary - I think kids might have started this trend long ago with crayons.

Don - I would have been in trouble too.

Cheryl - Do it! Take a pic of it and share please!

Teri - I haven't heard of that! I'd like to see some pictures of what they can create.

Brenda - Surely they have. I bet he would get free Sharpies for life or something.

Lizette:  You forgot to mention "artistic ability" in the list of necessities.  That is awesome.  I wish I was that talented.

Probably an interesting idea, but not the way I would be doing it.

A true talent and great until he  sells the house.  For staging, I would probably paint over, but take tons of photos first.

Chris Ann - I'm sure you have many talents that you just haven't bragged about yet. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Steven - Hmmm....what would be your technique?

Kathleen - Exactly! I would sure hate to paint over it. If I bought that house it would be my favorite room.

OH MY!!! I LOVE this!  I stenciled and hand painted a few special words I chose for a "girly room" once.  They were above a chair rail, and looked fine, all in black, but this is wonderful!  I am going to the link to check it out. I wonder what the artist did about little messy spots, since Sharpie is not very forgiving?

Cheryl - I share your enthusiasm for a project like this. Maybe for his "mistakes" he kept a can of Kilz paint handy. Then touch up w/ wall color. I love the whole room.

This is really unique Lizette, I clicked to visit the 360 degree tour and immediately had a strong urge to color. Wonder if it had that effect on anyone else? No doubt this work took some thought, talent and time. thanks for sharing. :)

Interesting.  I did love the 3-D looking down the hall at Claude in the doorway.  Thanks for posting this.  It was really neet to read about.  I'm going to draw on my wall with sharpies when I get home or anything.  I didn't get that gene.

This was amazing to see.  Unfortunately, my kindergarten art ability-stick figures, flying birds, etc would not be appealing to anyone...

If the artist ever wants to sell his house, I can just imagine the resistance the Stager will receive about neutralizing that space, lol!
