Are you someone who enjoys trying new things? Or do you tend to stick to the "tried and true?" My wife and I enjoy seeking out new places and experiences. We seldom frequent chain restaurants as we prefer to find unique, "off the beaten track" places. My wife's sister was visiting from Virginia and a daughter from Eastern Washington over Mother's Day so I offered to take the 3 ladies out to dinner (since I was the only NON-mother in the group). I was somewhat concerned that reservations for Mother's Day may be non-existent. An internet search of various ethnic restaurants ensued and we located Gorgeous George's in the Greenwood area of Seattle. 

Gorgeous George's was the perfect location for our evening. The decor is funky, food was wonderful (featuring Mediterranean cuisine as well as American choices) and service was top notch! The next time you are in the mood to try something new give Gorgeous George's a try.

Huge Snow Storm Remodeled This Home: New Construction Evolution

Last year about this time we had 18 - 24 inches fall in this small community south of Seattle.  I had often driven by this home on my way to visit some friends and wondered what was happening with this place.

The day of the big 2012 Seattle snow storm was heaven for my kids, so we went out to visit our friends for some snow fun.  on my way out I stopped and took this picture.

It was a great day for everyone in the snow.

Kids heaven, and I have to admit the adults were taking it all in with awe.

It was such a great day, nothing was open, everyone took the day off, so the next day we went back out to play.

This summer we passed by to see what had happened to the house.

Now it is a landmark!

Who can guess where this is?

Eventually this home will be torn down and one of Seattle's best builders will call us and ask us to sell  something like the next picture, but until then, the home is waiting to be gauked at like a bad accident.

The Learn to Row classes ($100 for 4 weeks) teaches rowing basics such as rowing stroke, boat handling, water safety, rowing terms, coxing skills, and equipment care. They also have a sailing class for about $175.  You don’t need to be a member to take the classes, but you do need to be a member to rent the equipment outside of the classes.

The townhouse was in an alley. On the street in front was a strip club.

When I first drove to this townhouse, I could not find it. I finally figured out it was not ON the street, it was in the alley. In fact, at an intersection of two alleys. I had never seen that before!

This was a 4 year old stand alone townhouse, in good condition. Because of the odd location at the intersection of two back alleys, we had to discount the price pretty aggressively to sell it. Parking was also an issue. There was a one car garage, but additional parking was difficult.

The seedy neighborhood didn’t add much to the appeal either.

This was the only property last year where squatters actually broke in and started to live in it. They started to dismantle the property, selling towel bars etc. for spending money for their drug habit. They were not in there long. On one of our weekly inspections we discovered them and the police whisked them away!
