The newest thing in Congress in the area of Housing is the QRM. To me QRM = lets punish the victims. Who are the victims? You and I and every home owner in the country. Lets review.

I am in Pickens County Georgia which was hard hit by storms a week ago. We did have some injuries and a fatality. A listing I was looking at had a new comment. Do not show home wiped out by tornado.
Now as i look around I see the trees in bloom and mother nature doing her thing to repair the damage with a bandage of green. The Jasper Olde fashioned Barber shop in Jasper Georgia is located on Church Street in Jasper.
What makes this Olde Fashioned Barber shop so special ? In my opinion it is the dedication of the folks who work there to excellence. Now I am a Barbers kid so I think I qualify as a knowledgeable person in this area. Here are the facts .

This is a story that I think all can relate to. The home owner wants to sell the home. The home owner is tight on the appreciation against what they owe. The home owner decides to use a discount brokerage. The brokerage tells them you can get listed for X. Want a yard sign add 10 dollars. Want a lock box add 25 dollars. And so it goes. The seller lists for X

The Jasper art Festival kicked off the out door activities season in the North Georgia Mountains. It was a little chilly ,but the food was hot and plentiful. It was a juried festival. So if you are like me, juried means that the exhibitors were all pre screened. Main Street was closed as folks walked around and had fun.

There was also a great antique car show as part of the festival. These cars make your mouth water.
Spring really is here.The North Georgia Mountains are a great place to visit or spend the rest of your life in.

For all of you who attended the RE TECH South show I do not have to tell you how great it all was. As usual I have learned a lot about how to do business in this world of evolving Technology. I cannot tell you how many blogs I have read or how many times I have answered the question, Is it a good time to buy? The question is it a good time to buy is very subjective. It requires an opinion of the market, thoughts on where it is going, and the financial as well as emotional state of the buyer. So lets ask a different question. Why buy at all ?

Home Owners Associations can be great things. I have been lucky in the communities I live in . For the most part the HOA folks have been great. But this is not an across the board situation. So here are some things you HOA folks out there need to know.
You may have brought into a neighborhood for a high price. As you see prices decline do not try to get property owners to upgrade their homes through new restrictions. All you will do is force more people out and make the existing homes harder to sell.

In our mountains today we are seeing more and more first time buyers come out. We do have somewhat of a shift from vacation buyers and second home buyers to folks looking to take advantage of this market. Many renters are singing the same song. The home I am renting is going in to foreclosure. We still have 100 percent financing available for veterans and as part of rural development. For a lot of my life I was a road warrior. You know that person you see on the road with a rack across the back f the car with shirts and jackets hung on it. So along the ay i have seen some wild things people do as they are driving.
When I drove n NYC it was not uncommon to see drivers driving and reading the paper in the stop and go traffic. Later on it was talking on the cell phone. And of course the combo of cell phone talking and reading the paper.

Once again the North Georgia mountains are under the weather gun. Real snow with accumulations is something we do not often see. In fact this Christmas was the first time in 100 years we have seen this type of weather. We are under the gun fr Monday. Here are some tips
if we have ice we could loose power . Make sure your gastanks are full if you use propane to heat. Have your fire wood chopped and ready to go. Make sure your battaries are all good. If you have a medical condition consider staying in a hotel near your medical treatment facility.

I was just on line working on ordering a service and I suddenly realized how much I hate certain types of technology. I am calling it over tech. An example of over tech is; I was in a store and could not buy bologna because the computers that price were being updated. I do not want my refrigerator telling me not to eat something.
