baltimore jewish times: All About Advertising The Rome Way - 11/02/22 06:56 AM

I am thankful for my print advertising and how sellers find me.
There is a lot of information loaded in this one advertisement. My current properties are listed; there's a 'Too Late' and a 'Sold,' and there are homes that I need for buyers. There's still room for my radio show, logo, website info, and phone numbers.
There is a subtle mention of 'carving' out time, hoping to hint at Halloween and Thanksgiving... using the fall colors for this time of the year.
How much can you get into an ad?
It's all about advertising and I am thankful.

baltimore jewish times: SELLING IN THIS MARKET - 10/10/22 09:06 PM
How To Sell in Any Market
I've recently been asked what works to sell listings in today's market. For me, it comes down to a few simple but powerful practices:
1. Start by giving - make it easy for anyone to get information. My website allows any visitor to search all listings - not just mine - without having to give personal information first. Buyers can see what's available in the areas they are interested in. But savvy sellers also use this to see what's happening in their neighborhood. And then, I make it easy for a visitor to get in touch with me … (13 comments)

baltimore jewish times: How Will You Sell My Home? - 08/02/21 12:32 PM
What will you do to sell my home?
That's the question a seller wants to know from their REALTOR®
Hopefully, more than the three Ps.

1.Put it into the MLS
2. Place a sign on the property
3. Pray

In addition to putting the property on the MLS (Multiple Listing System), making sure it is on numerous websites, professional photography, and taking each call to answer questions and set up appointments, HomeRome will be doing various additional marketing.

As you can see above, we will talk about your house and all the special features on my live weekly radio show.
You may call in, and we can discuss … (13 comments)

baltimore jewish times: Print Media Goes Viral - 05/08/20 05:09 PM

It’s my job to let you know I’m in real estate. It’s not your job to remember.
Marketing with consistency has always been essential...now even more.

Over the years I have heard  “no one’ reads print anymore.
Pleased to say it fell on my deaf ears. When selling your home, whether under a hundred or over a million, you deserve the same quality treatment. You talk with me, appointments are made by me, you know who is seeing your home,
and at what time. You then talk to me after showings.
Your house will be blogged before it hits the market and numerous times during … (22 comments)

baltimore jewish times: Diary Of Anne Frank - 05/23/19 08:03 PM
Last evening I had the opportunity to attend the reception and special performance of
The Diary Of Anne Frank

This production recognized the Greater Baltimore cultural institutions that participate in "Baltimore's Spring of Remembrance" and to honor the
100th anniversary of the Baltimore Jewish Times.

Moving, mesmerizing, intense, I was totally immersed in this beautifully performed play.
Prior to the show, I had the incredible experience of a virtual reality tour.

This was accomplished through the use of a Oculus VR headset which allowed me to "walk through" three-dimensional spaces that re-created the Secret Annex where Anne Frank and seven others were in hiding for two years.

baltimore jewish times: Why Do You Use Those Too Late Signs FAQ - 06/06/17 03:37 PM

Love using those "Too Late" signs.
When preparing  print media advertising I just write changes on the ad  copy.
For me this was a simple way to keep track. The changes could include a price adjustment, rewording, change in banner heading, removing, adding or changing a property location. I would also write 'Sold' or "Too Late"  or "Coming Soon" with a black marker.

On listing appointments I would have a few back issues to show my marketing plan. In front of the potential clients, I took out a pen and wrote directly on the ad Too Late, Sold or would even draw an X on a released or … (49 comments)

baltimore jewish times: How Much Can Go In An Ad - 06/14/16 12:03 PM

Bob was talking about dead space in advertising and that made me take a look at my own weekly print advertising.
There is a lot of information in this ad...and not much dead space.

Notice the advertising above shows homes for sale, homes that are 'Too Late', new listings and an Open House.
There is also a section for buyers looking for specific properties.
The ad shows my tag line, my email, my website, my book, my latest MCNE designation and my weekly radio show.

My number is in more than a dozen times...making my phone ring and keeping my pipeline full.

Not everyone uses the internet, not … (8 comments)

Not Too Soon For Thanksgiving

If you bought today it would not be to soon to  plan Thanksgiving dinner in your new home!
Think about writing a contract with a 45 day settlement.
Just in time for that big wonderful turkey and all the trimmings to share with friends and family in your new home.

How Will You  Market My Baltimore Home?

This is a question asked by sellers.

 Take a look

Yes, I use the internet, multiple list, blogging and online marketing but I don't stop there. Print media shows my listed homes and the buyers I am working with. I can announce new listings and special properties.
My listings are discussed on my weekly Sunday radio show  'All About Real Estate'.

baltimore jewish times: Can Using Color Help Sell Homes in Baltimore? - 02/05/12 01:35 PM
Can Using Color Help Sell Homes in Baltimore? Many factors go into selling a home including things like pricing, photography, internet presence, presentation, marketing, condition and ease of making appointments. I have decided to experiment...Can using color help sell homes in Baltimore?

My favorite color is sort of a non color. I love the color brown. But when it came to advertising my listings..I wanted the color to stand out against backgrounds of black and white. My "For Sale" sign is red so I again chose RED for my real estate advertising. I have always used black and white … (16 comments)

baltimore jewish times: Artist Jerry Scherr Shares His Art and A Birthday in Baltimore - 01/14/11 03:22 PM
A few weeks ago there was a settlement but it was not at a boring title or real estate office.                                               Monday was a very special day, January 10th, 2011 and it was Jerry Scherr's 89th birthday.  A call in the morning from freelance photographer, Chris Ammann, asking to set up an appointment for a photo shoot to go with  this weekend's story in the Baltimore Jewish Times     My response..let's do it today! What better way to celebrate an  89th birthday.    I took some photos to capture the prolific artworks of this talented artist. I love Jerry's smile! … (11 comments)

It takes a certain kind of personality to be a real estate agent, and Margaret Rome thinks she has the right type. In her first book, “Real Estate the Rome Way” (Silloway Press) coming out this fall, Mrs. Rome will talk about what she calls her “Type E” personality and how doing it her way could help you be a real estate success.
Type E personalities comprise about 5 to 10 percent of the population, according to Mrs. Rome. They are entrepreneurs who possess … (9 comments)

I was quoted in today's Wall Street Journal! The title of the article: Make Me an Offer: Buying Unlisted Homes-
"Margaret Rome, a Coldwell Banker agent in Baltimore, once ran an ad in theBaltimore Jewish Times announcing that one of her buyers was seeking a "funky"four-bedroom ranch house in a particular school district for less than $400,000.An owner of such a house, which wasn't yet listed, responded, and a sale wasquickly arranged, Ms. Rome says."
