Volunteers who would like to teach English as a second language can attend tutor training sessions on May 9 and May 16 at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Training sessions last from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and take place in Building A. Classes are hosted by the Laubach Literacy Council of San Diego and LEARN, the San Diego County Library Adult Literacy Program. Once training is complete, you can teach at libraries in Casa de Oro, El Cajon, or Lakeside. Jim, This would be a great way for high school students to obtain their community service hours. Here in Riverside County students have to donate at least 10 hours to graduate but many colleges that have become competitive look at a students overall community service hours as a plus if they have gone above and beyond and contributed more, some are donating hundreds of hours for thes reason.
