Southern California's Faces & Places Photo Contest

Capture Southern California in a photograph and you could win big time!

How it works:

  1. Photographs can be submitted by anyone, anywhere, but must be taken in the Southern California region.
  2. There are two divisions: Amateur and Professional
  3. Entry fees for Amateurs are $10 for 1 phone, and $15 for 2-6 photos.
  4. Entry fees for Professionals are $20 for 1 photo, and $25 for 2-6 photos.
  5. Categories are (1) Action shots, (2) Animals/Pets, (3) Beach life, (4) Nature/Environment, and (5) People
  6. Entry deadline is August 31, 2009
  7. Enter online at SoCalPhotoContest.com

Here's what you could win:

  1. Amateur Grand Prize: Canon EOS 50D Camera (15.1 megapixels), Canon EFS 18-200 mm lens, Canon 580 EXII flash, Photoserve Portfolio, PDN PhotoPlus Internationa Conference Gold Expo Pass, Subscription to PDN Photography Magazine
  2. Professional Grand Prize: Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera (body only) (21.1 megapixels), Photoserve Portfolio, PDN PhotoPlus Internationa Conference Gold Expo Pass, Subscription to PDN Photography Magazine
  3. Category Prizes (5 winners): $200 gift card from Best Buy, subscription to PDN Photography Magazine
  4. People's Choice (1 winner): PDN swag bag, subscription to PDN Photography Magazine
  5. All winners: Featured in PDN online gallery, featured in the San Diego Union-Tribune and SignOnSanDiego.com, and selected images will be exhibited at a gallery exhibit at the PDN PhotoPlus International Expo in October 2009.

The contest sounds like fun. Now you just need to find something that is the epitome of California and get Zoey the Cool cat to perch on it and snap the image. You will be a winner for sure!

Hey, Folks - There might be a little confusion in that the photography contest isn't mine. Instead, it's being held by the San Diego Union-Tribune. They've held the contest for many years.
