Palm Beach County School Supplies- What You Need to Know!

ready for school

School begins in Palm Beach County on August 22!   For our children that means making the most of the "free" time they have left... packing in as many trips to the beach or mall that they can.  It means cherishing every minute past 8 a.m. that they get to sleep!

And, I can remember that back to school for me meant buying the largest box of Crayola crayons they made!  Unfortunately for many years budget cuts and the economy have made it hard for many children and schools to have the supplies they need to give all of our children the education they deserve.   I heard one parent of a private school remark that they would send their own children to class with extra supplies for the classroom.

Well in 2002, The School Supply Guys of Palm Beach County  took it upon themselves to help make a difference in this area.   This began as a Girl Scout project and through friends and neighbors has blossomed into helping 50 children in 1 school the first year to over 41 schools and more than 2200 children.

If you're concerned about the quality of education please take a look at The School Supply Guys and what they're doing to make a difference.  Even if you don't live in Palm Beach County, look at your own area and see if you can make a small donation to help.

I still love Crayola crayons.  Sitting down and coloring is a very relaxing way to comfort your inner child!

Roy- thank you and hope you have a weekend full of beautiful blooms.

BARFF- I still love seeing a brand new box of crayons!

Joni- let's hope so.  I'm enjoying "discovering" more about my area.

Kevin- I heard Naples is doing well in the market!  Give me a call when you're on our coast and coffee's on me!!

Lynn- Now that's a big area to cover!  I'd bet there are a lot of parents new to the area that would welcome the information.

Tammy- That's very sweet of you.  It wouldn't take much to make sure each child had all the materials they need.

Sharon- I think you're right.  I know that when my friend's children were younger and I'd color with them I think I had as much fun as they did.

When I started in grade school, we needed a couple of notebooks or pads, some crayons, a couple of pencils and that was about it.  Now, each child needs to have nearly $100 worth of supplies to go to school.

Thanks for sharing the generosity of these people with us.  God bless them.  And, thankfully, they are here to help fill a need.

Hi Kathy--it's amazing what a shortfall of school supplies there are in most areas.  Organizations like this are so great but they need more promotion, so your post is great and will get the news out to more people who can help.
