Opened in 1968, Trenholm Park has the honor of being the very first park opened by the Richland County Recreation Commission. The 10.7 acre complex has all the things you would expect out of the facility with lighted baseball fields, football fields, picnic shelters, and a gym. Located off of Garner's Ferry Road, a main road just outside of downtown Columbia SC, is another wonderful and free park provided by the Richland County Recreation Commission. Large oak trees on either side of the entrance greet visitors to the park and invite you to explore the 20 acres complex. There are baseball/softball fields, multiuse fields, tennis courts, and a walking trail. Plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and get a little exercise. If you happen to be something of a history buff like I am, then there is no shortage of places for you to visit throughout Columbia, SC and the surrounding areas. Just 40 minutes outside of downtown Columbia in the town of Camden, is the Camden Revolutionary War Site. A wonderful piece of history sitting on 106 acres where 100's died in Revolutionary War.
