Prepare & Donate: OCJ Kids of Phoenix, AZ Tools 4 Success Drive & Back to School Tips

OCJ Kids of Phoenix are holding a Tools 4 Success Back to School Drive through August 4th for those who'd like to donate school supplies and help fill the backpacks of over 300 foster children living in group homes. These are kids without Mom's and Dads and need all of our help to get their school year off to a good start.  Please feel free to contact Phoenix Property Shoppe and we'd be happy to pick up school supplies for these kids!  It's takes a community to build a child....

A new school year is approaching – fast! Aisles are filling up with all of the essentials: backpacks, pencils, notebooks, all sorts of supplies. Is your household prepared for the impending chaos?

A new school year means early mornings, varying schedules for after-school activities & trips to the store to stock up on the basics needed for the children’s classes. To make life a little easier on you and your kids, try creating an easy-to-follow calendar/scheduler. Keeping events and activities organized will mean a less stressful household.

Second, consider easing your kids into the changing sleeping & eating schedule. Get them to bed earlier & ease them into the school year schedule during the last two weeks of summer.

Another way to ease the early morning chaos is to designate a specific storage area for each kid where they can store their essentials for the next school day. These essentials could include homework, supplies, permission slips, library books, lunch boxes, etc. Put them away the night before in one area so the next morning isn’t so hectic.

As for school supplies, OCJ Kids of Phoenix are holding a Tools 4 Success Back to School Drive through August 4th for those who’d like to donate school supplies and help fill the backpacks of over 300 foster children living in group homes.

Wonderful post about important needs. We have a helpline for families in our area that need help just supplying the basic needs of their kids, Even in our affluent neighborhood...there are needs. Great post!

So do I Wanda - sad to say but with the budget crunch going on in our state and I'm sure many - these programs to help the kids have been drastically cut.   If I remember correctly the kids are given about 100.00 to last all year for supplies, clothes etc.

We have a similar program like that here in Sacramento too.  I'm having a really difficult time wrapping my arms around the idea that kids are already going back to school.  Where has summer gone.
