Did You Hear the One About.....?(30DC24)
TRUE STORY. Did you hear the one about a lady walks into a bank and says
Bank Customer: I need a statement or letter on bank letterhead that shows that I have xx amount of dollars in my account. After explaining why she needed it the conversation goes like this.....
Banker: We can't give you that information on your account. The person/company that you are getting it for needs to request that information on a form.
Banker calls me and says that the bank cannot give their customer a statement or letter regarding her own account. I say, pardon me. Can we back up just one minute? Can you repeat that? And guess what? He repeats the same absurd statement verbatim.
I was so outdone, I just wanted to say Huh? I couldn't even bring myself to further the conversation anymore because what he was saying was so ridiculous and it was obvious that he didn't have a clue as to how ridiculous he sounded. So I say to him "okay thank you."
Banker to me: Just like that? You don't even want to discuss it?
Me: No thank you. I'll talk with Ms. So and So shortly.
In essence he was saying if his customer wanted information on her own account, she would need to request it through me (a third party). Luckily when I spoke with the lady, she too, realized how ridiculous he sounded. She tried to explain to him in the same way that I would have how she had a right to request info for about her own account. This guy just wasn't having it.
Those of us that deal with cash buyers know that our buyers walk into their banks all of the time to request a proof of funds letter after providing identifying information of course. Some people can be so convinced that they are right, that they just can't even fathom how ridiculous their claim sounds.
I like to think that I'm a big enough person to admit when I'm wrong (even if I previously was convinced that I was right). I've made that admission right here on ActiveRain on more than one occasion. So somebody please put me in check if I got this all wrong.
Rant Over!
