Why children don't trick or treat anymore

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoAuthorities throughout Southern California are asking parents to inspect any Halloween treats that their children bring home, including candles and drinks.

Apparently marijuana-laced products have been found in several areas, mostly in the Los Angeles metroplex. Marijuana-laced products are packaged to look like commercially available products and to specifically appeal to children for Halloween. These include not only the aforementioned candles and drinks, but also candies and cereal snacks.

http://www.missionvalleycondos.infoThese types of products present health threats due to the concentrated amounts of marijuana, and many of them are prepared in unknown, perhaps unsanitary, conditions.

Halloween is supposed to be a time of fun, but it seems that ever since that parent in Houston in 1974 put cyanide in Pixie Stix for his children and their friends, Halloween just hasn't been the same. Have fun. Be aware. Be safe.

Jim - The age of Innocence .... I guess I'm too old to rmember the way it really was ... but it seems to me that pranks (tricks) were never really harmful ... inconvenient perhaps, but not traumatic.  Everything, even negativity, seems to have a watershed moment ... perhaps you have identified it for Halloween!  Thanks for the warning!

Horrible that parents have to fear this sort of thing when their children bring home their bag of "treats"..................sick individuals that would do this sort of thing too.

These are scary times(no pun intended).  We need to be aware of our surroundings and report suspicious activity.  Since we are in the business of knowing real estate---how many times have we heard the story of the well kept suburban home with no known occupants and it's discovered to be a "pot house"---everything removed from the house except grow lights.   Thanks for the reminder.

We have had very few kids come by this year.  I don't think it's marijuana... But I do think parents are worried about the their kids.  Also, tomorrow is school.

More opinions than you want to hear about.

Marijuana prepared in unsanitary conditions?  Now that's scarey.

Seems that most kids are being escorted by a parent or two, and they are only stopping at homes where they know the occupants.  That makes good safety sense.  e live in a rural area and the total number of kids doubled this year.  We had four of them.

It's a sad commentary people would intentionally hurt children, but there it is.  I remember Halloween being such a fun time when I was a child, but I was trick or treating before '74.  ;-)

Jim, it is horrible that kids can't be safe and enjoy themselves anymore!!!!!  It is abhorent that adults are so twisted that they think that it is okay to hurt children, including robbing them of their childhoods!  Here there are still some trick or treaters coming by.  Which I enjoy, this is a change from when I was a child that is definately not one for the better!

Hi Jim, what a shame some jerk had to ruin Halloween for everybody.  Remember when we were kids and went around for hours collecting candy and being with siblings and friends?  The kids nowdays will never know that kind of freedom and fun we had.
