The Social Media Action Plan - 30 Days to Social Media Results - Day 6

Action Plan
Our goal with this series is to create solid social media results within 30 days, in 30 minutes a day.  Today we put together the Action Plan.

Action Plan Rules of Engagement:

Each Action listed must advance at least one business goal
Break marketing tasks that seem too big into smaller, multi-day 30 minute tasks.
Use the goals that you identified in Days 2 - 5 and create action steps from them.

Goal:  Set up my Social Media Sites

Action Steps:
  1. Choose 1- 3 social media sites that reach your target audience
  2. Sign up for each site.   Make sure to choose a user name that makes it easy for people to find you.
  3. Gather information to set up profiles:
    1. Digital photo, short bio, the links to your current website or Stepsblog
  4. Understand the rules of each social network and follow them (this means read the Terms of Service)
  5. Look for like or complementary pages or profiles.  This could include industry leaders, competitors, or other business people
    1. Review these profiles make a list of what you like and what you don’t like.
    2. pay attention to the kinds of comments that are being left
  6. Ask yourself, what kind of conversation do you want to start.
  7. Visit the groups that relate to your expertise.  Make a note as to how active they are, how often are people visiting and commenting.
  8. Set up your basic page for each of the Social Media Sites
  9. Invite 30 people a day to be your friend or follower.  Start with the people in your current contact list.
  10. Add content in terms of an article, or comment at least twice a week.

There you have it a 10 step plan that can be accomplished in 30 minutes a day.

By following this your marketing will become a habit and something that you mark off your to do list every day.

Social Media Rule:  Your 30 minutes should be spent advancing or acheiving one of your business goals.

Todays Exercise:  Review your marketing actions and break them down into steps that can be completed in just 30 minutes!

Kate, good stuff here.  I like breaking it down into a plan and setting a goal that could produce results in 30 days.

Hi Kate - sounds like the plan is consistent  - I am probably on social media sites for about 45 minutes a day combined, but all through out the day.

Geez, I think my goal right now would be to reduce it down to 30 minutes a day.  There's just so much to learn here on this social network site (Active Rain) that I have found myself exceeding and hour a day at least!  Oh, well - I still like your example outline and can certainly draw from it.  Thanks for sharing!

Courtney, sounds like you have it down.

KWR - you be welcome

I agree. Using social media to connect with clients and prospects is a necessary part of every business’ marketing plan. As a busy real estate professional, you simply do not have enough time to join or actively participate in every new network. Choose 3-4 and commit to posting there regularly.
