This is one of a series titled Share the road with our cycling friends! San Diego has plans to build many more bicycle paths throughout the city, something that is badly needed. I often see teams of bicyclists out riding around and worry about them when they suddenly swerve out into the car lane. However, they usually have been the commonly seen bicycles with two evenly sized wheels. Today I saw this guy riding his bicycle down the street: When you're driving down the road and see something unexpected like this, it's even more important that we remember to share the road! From your Mission Valley condominium, you can ridge your bike just about anywhere, from Qualcomm Stadium at the east end to the Mission Bay and Ocean Beach at the west end. In fact, there are concrete bicycle paths on both sides of the San Diego River as it courses through Mission Valley. I was glad to see that he had his helmet on because it looks like it could be a long way to fall. I've always wondered how they get up on a bicycle like that.
If you want to do a little riding outside of Mission Valley, you can always hop on the San Diego Trolley, the Coaster, or Amtrak with your bike and go south to Tijuana, east to Santee, or north to, well, Los Angeles!

Jim, what an interesting bicycle. I wonder if they have to duck for tree branches if they were to ride in the areas with the shady sidewalks. Like you, I also wonder how they get on that type of bicycle.
Right on Jim, great post and great reminder! Bicycles have as much right to be on the road as cars. You rock!
In Battle Creek we have bicycle paths along many of the streets, and also a special path called the Linear path which is frequented by them as well.
Living in a place with proximity to biking trails would be so nice. I am a wuss when it comes to cycling on roads.
Jim, You live in such a great area for outdoor activities. Here the roads are so tight and there is really a lack of awareness by many drivers for bikes and motorcycles, so people riding their bikes on the roads must do so at risk. Love that big front wheeler!
