It's useful to go to the San Diego Zoo at different times of the year and at different times of the day. Occasionally you'll get lucky and see something like this striped hyena: After your visit to the San Diego Zoo, if you would like to buy a home close to the Zoo or anywhere in San Diego County, please feel free to contact me! ♪♫♫♫♪ Recent blog posts:
Was this yours? It sure was tasty!
I love the zoo. I hear San Diego is one of the best Zoos in North America......Love the Hyena!
Jim, I got a laugh out of your hyena picture. Reminds me of the movie the Lion King. I don't think I've ever seen a real hyena. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing photo, I miss the zoo terribly, this is the longest I have gone since I've re-newed my annual pass. I just told my wife new passes would make a great Father's Day Gift!
Jim - Great picture and I liked your title! For some reason hyena's always creep me out. I certainly wouldn't want to meet one in the wild.
I really do need to take a trip to the zoo. You are always getting some great shots...and I am sure it is relaxing as well!
Jim,
That is a wonderful shot. From you perspective that bone looks enormous compared to the rest of this gorgeous creature. I am sure he had no trouble munching it up. A
That is vicious looking. I don't know if it's the teeth showing, the shredded meat hanging from the very large bone, or the pointy ears and snout.
Jim, We attended a fundraiser for Elephants of Africa Rescue Society near Salinas several weeks, ago. They also have many other forms of wild animals, hyenas being one of them. You captured the essence of them. We were told they are so nasty and can crunch a huge bone like this in seconds. Consequently they (keepers) keep their distance.
Great picture and I love the line! You could write lines for that America's Funniest Video show!
Now that is one happy hyena! And yes, I would love a home near the Zoo. They may look vicious, but they perform a valuable service in keeping the environment cleaned up.
Yikes! That makes my leg hurt just thinking about it. I don't think Henry the Hyena is giving that up anytime soon.
Wow Jim...love the picture. That would scare me if I were out in the wild & ran into that hyena. Good thing you were at the zoo with that picture. Thank you for the re-blog of "I'm a hand holder". That was nice.

Alexandra – That bone was enormous, and Mr. Hyena spent about 15 minutes looking for a place to get comfortable and chow down on it. I have a video of him, too.
