Find the Golden Ticket in Phoenix: Local First Arizona
There are 5 Golden Tickets in Willy Wonka bars around Phoenix and those who find this Golden Ticket will win a once-in-a-lifetime local chocolate factory tour that will include pools of chocolate, walls made of candy, and more illusions than a mind could imagine. Sounds fun, right? Well, this isn't technically the case, but I may put in a word with Phoenix's local chocolate company Cerreta Candy Company, because it is a worthwhile campagin, if you ask me.
The truth is, there are Golden Tickets, but this time...everyone reaps the benefits and there's no crazy surprises (hopefully)!
As the fourth of July nears, a new campaign begins. Local First Arizona is a non-profit organization in Phoenix aimed at bringing awareness to the benefits of supporting your local community, and I, for one, am a big supporter of this! This week 186 local Arizona businesses are honoring a 20% off Golden Coupon that can be downloaded on the Local First Arizona Website and there are tons to choose from!
From boutiques to auto repair, or restaurants to hospitals, this week is the best time to support local Arizona at a discount! As a Phoenician for quite some time now, in my experience, many of these businesses have come to be some of the best places to visit to get the best service, quality, and satisfaction in town. One of my favorite local businesses shown in the discount list this year is Pink House, a wonderfully eclectic shop in Downtown Glendale that supports local designers and sells everything from nostalgia memorabilia to kitchen items to jewelry. It's one of my favorite places to get some unique finds that you can't find anywhere else.
The list this year is so long, I'm really looking forward to taking advantage of my Willy Wonka-esque "Golden ticket" and trying out some new places! Not yet sold on supporting local? Here's a really great chart that Local First Arizona provided breaking down the benefits of supporting your local community that I found really helpful. Check it out:
I'm a firm believer that little things make all the difference. So, next time you visit a grocery store, visit Basha's or AJ's (locally owned grocery stores) instead of Safeway or Trader Joe's, or buy Hickman's Eggs instead of another brand. Remember, a bunch of little things, can make one big difference! Sometimes the extra cents are worth supporting local!
Happy Independents Week!
