WEDDING BELLS IN ALAMEDA ON 11/11/11

WANT TO GET MARRIED ON 11/11/11? The City of Alameda is at your service. A civil wedding ceremony is being offered to those love birds who want to be married on the lucky day of Friday, 11/11/11.

Since that day is Veterans day, a national holiday, most municipalities are closed. According to Laura Weisiger, Alameda City Clerk, it was decided that this would be the perfect day to kick off the City's expanded wedding service.

The expanded service includes video, photography, personalized vows and a decorated venue. Weisigner said that reservations for wedding ceremonies have been very good and include couples from Alameda to as far away as San Diego. The clerk's office has been flooded with inquires about the ceremonies. City staff is still taking reservations and if you would like to be married on the lucky day of 11/11/11 call 510-747-4806 as soon as possible.

Great to know that there are lots of options available for those who want to get married. I got married at city hall in San Francisco... it was great.. The judge was great and everyone had a greate time.

Almeda, CA seems to be a place to get married and also to have a honeymoon. I know someone who was married on 9/10/11 at 12:00. Gotta Love It!

Ok I guess I'm the only one out of the wedding loop here. I had no clue 11-11-11 was a good lucky wedding day. Time to Google that one :) Hope there will be many happy couples ready to say I Do on the 11th!

Joan: So cool that you got married in San Francisco. City Hall is a beautiful place, especially the Rotunda. Is that where the ceremony was performed?

Kathy: That should make remembering their anniversary date easier. Thanks for your comment.

Karen: I wouldn't have thought that would be a good day to be married. To some people, 11 is a lucky number.

Tom: Thanks. It would be nice to have the wedding at 11 am. I forgot to ask the City Clerk if someone had already take that time slot.

Ginny: Revenue may have something to do with it. But since most of the other cities are closed that day, Lisa Weisiger jumped to provide the service for "love birds" as she says. Cool lady.

John: That is my hope and the City's hope. Some people are so superstitious that having a wedding date of 11/11/11 would seem to be a good idea.

Amy: It is an amazing date and I hope those who marry on that date have long, happy marriages.
