Holiday Lights in Palm Beach County

hot cocoaTwo things I love to do in December are drink a great cup of hot cocoa (and none of the instant stuff... I want the real thing)  and spend an evening looking at  Holiday/Christmas lights.

And, even with our 80 degree days, Palm Beach County offers many areas where residents have given their neighborhoods a gift each year of their time, money and hard work and put on a wonderful display of lights.

Each year the Sun-Sentinel has a section showing where some of the best light shows are.  You can even send in your home to be included in the list.

One of my favorites and one I hope to return to this year is a holiday light, sound and laser show in Boca Raton.  The show runs every night from November 24 thru December 31st... from 6pm to 2 am.  It’s free to all and you are even encouraged to bring your video camera.

Santa will make an appearance on Christmas Eve beginning at 7 pm.  Donations are accepted and go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

I encourage you to go to their website to learn more about this fantastic Holiday Light Show in Boca Raton.

Good morning Kathy,

I love the Holiday Light Shows that are so popular now across the country. It's always an inspiration to see and hear the wonderful sights and sounds of Christmas :).

Sounds like a wonderful Holiday event.  We love to drive around on Christmas Eve night and admire the lights throughout the area.... Nothing quite like this available here, but we enjoy it just the same!  Merry Christmas and enjoy!

I love driving around and looking at homes with lights too Kathy. When we were in Fargo last weekend for Christmas with our families we drove around after dinner with my Mom who is 89 and looked at lights. It was so relaxing and peaceful.

Hi Kathy,

The laser show sounds wonderful! Cuddling up with a good cup of REAL hot chocolate is delicious! I don't care for the powered stuff either. After moving away from Chicago to Texas, experiencing Christmas without snow was foreign to me. But I got used to it. I find that when the weather is nice, more people decorate in a bigger way than when the climate is frigid and cold! Brrrr....

When it's winter, I always enjoy a hot cup of tea or chocolate.

Have a wonderful Tuesday before Christmas!

Patricia

Kathy - wow, what a show these people put on at Christmas! We have a home a few towns over that has such an incredible light show that people come from all over to see it. The entire yard is filled with lights, decorations and moving figures. They even have a policeman to direct traffic it's such an event! Thanks for sharing and I'll be sure to check out the link! Happy Holidays my friend!

Hi Kathy. What a Great combination of Hot Cocoa and Holiday Lights in Palm Beach County. I know all the residents will certainly enjoy The Holiday Light Show, and have an opportunity to support the Make a Wish Foundation too.

Hot chocolate and Christmas - it's a winning combination for kids and adults. I too like the real thing - or nothing. I hope you take a video camera to the Laser Show, it would make a great local video for you. :)

No matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year, driving around and seeing all the lights, or attending one of the many light shows, is certain to put you in the holiday spirit.

Kathy,

I am with you, when it comes to REAL Cocoa, and it has to be unsweetened.  The laser light show in Boca sounds like a wonderful treat.  All the best, A

Kathy, My husband and I love to drive around to see the houses beautifully lit up and there's nothing like hot chocolate with mini marshmallows and a peppermint stir-stick!

Dorie- I remember growing up that I wanted everyone to keep up their lights and not take them down.

Amy- I wish you had some areas you could drive through.  I remember 2 areas in Houston that were so busy the line to get into the neighborhood was unbelieveable.

Josh- thank... hope you get a chance to see some in your area.

BLiz- this house adds more and more each year. We went last year and will go there again this week.

Shar- was there snow on the ground?  Now I've never had that experience but I bet that would be beautiful. We're driving around with our car A/C on!

Patricia- I guess it's easier to put out all the lights and so forth when you're doint it in 80 degree weather!  We'll take a thermos of hot chocolate!

Kristin- love the photo and big Congrats to you!!! I always wonder where in the world everyone stores everything.. no basements here in Florida!

Jerry- you know... we have to do anything we can to make it feel like Christmas when you're walking around in flip flops!

Debb- I tried taking a video last year but now that I have a better camera...I'm ready to go!

Craig- it does!  And it's also fun to see the families out doing something together.  They'll have great memories.  And, now that I said it.... I remember our trips out looking at lights when I was a kid.

BARFF- I got kind of lazy when we were living in VA....I put out a lighted palm tree with lighted packages underneath it.

Alexandra- I make the kind where you have to make a paste out of the cocoa powder, a little sugar and milk first, then you had hot milk to it.

Patty- you're not kidding.  If you get a chance you should check out this house.  It's just off Glades road.

Wanda- oh...I forgot the marshmallows.  All I have are some big ones that we have from the last time I made S'Mores!
