I am reminded on how B of A tried to charge a fee for using a debit card and the public said NO. Then, Netflix tried a maneuver to make an extra creative buck and the public said a very expensive NOT TODAY. Then, a carrier tried to charge for paying your bill online or some such nonsense and there was an uproar

STAY OUT OF OUR POCKETS RIGHT NOW

Finally, the public is saying NO to all the nitpicking and chipping away at their income. I for one will be cutting back on things that are not necessary. Lean and mean is coming back. Performance and function instead of glitter and double talk is the preferred

PEOPLE IN OFFICE

Something else too. The people in office for the last 10 years are coming under intense scrutiny for everything that takes place. WHY? Because things are happening on their watch that do not benefit the public and the public's well being...Senators, assemblyman, CONGRESS (worthless), councilman, and the like need to start serving instead of feasting

IN AND OUT BURGERS

In Real Estate today, people are getting what they pay for plus as a bonus, historic financing is available making it hard to say NO to purchasing. The value is there. I went to an IN & OUT burger place the other day and it was running perfectly. I watched people coming and going and having a good time. The public came first and they kept coming.

BEAT A PATH TO YOUR DOOR

If we can take a successful formula and introduce a win/win to the public, they will respond by beating a path to your door. People know value when they see it and they also know gouging too..

ALL YOU BUSINESSES AND LEADERS OUT THERE

I want to see indisputable value being offered to the public at large together with services or expect little or no patronage or support from me. People work hard for what they have. If someone wants my hard earned support...well earn it then...

Nancy.....when we have to consider or threaten to take out business elsewhere, then it is too late and has gone too far. I am reminded of the old rule of thirst. If you are thirsty, then you haven't drunk enough water. Your optimum hydration is never to thirst but to eliminate the call for it.....Best dear lady

Hello Lyn...now that is a comment that should make us want to comment..Sick because it makes us feel NOT well and tired because it is the same old thing that tires us...Sick and tired. Human beings were not meant for this treatment.

Justin...so very true not to mention the goodwill and being in touch with our roots. Greg, our pal in winter cubicle #30 said it too...That is what BBQ is all about. Its a personal experience that conjures up raw intimacy between us, the fire, the food and our guests. It takes us back to our humble beginnings...which were good enough

Hi Richie, didn't get to read all the above comments, but Molly Katchpole wrote yesterday to say we've won another small victory - Verizon has backed down from their fee of $2.00 to pay our bills on line! We need to stay organized, stay informed, and make ourselves heard, whether voting at the polls, voting with our feet, or signing petitions en masse in order to make ourselves heard and provoke change.

Richie thanks for the great blog. I too am glad to see us as citizens and consumers getting fed up with the business as usual. Only collectively can we make changes. Personally I would like to see some of the key players in the banking scandal go to jail, but I think that ship has sailed.

This is an amazing topic to me. I've observed over the years how the public will get all up in arms over small things, like the cost of entertainment and convenience, but stick their heads in the sand over large things. I've had so many conversations over gasoline - people complain that we're not getting more oil from American sources.

I say, then only buy your gas from companies that supply from American sources. They say they want to buy the cheapest gas. We're usually talking two or three pennies cheaper.

So I say, you'd rather buy gas from countries that support terrorists then spend fifty cents more to fill your tank?

They blink their eyes a couple of times, then go back to complaining about politicians.

PEOPLE - in America we have the power of the pocketbook, and there are a lot of seriously important issues. Child labor comes to mind! Do we only use our great gift of Democracy to save ourselves ourselves pennies? Are we seriously never willing to spend a little more to do the right thing?

If so, we've wasted it all, IMO.

Hello Joetta...very valid point of view. Sometimes life presents us with difficult choices and then each one of us has to deal with their moment of truth....America remains a place where your voice means something but only if you use it. Joetta asks us to consider spending a little more to do the right thing...For the poor, it becomes challenging, for the middle class, it becomes something to look at and consider and for the well-off crowd, well it doesn't even come up on their radar...it goes on...thank you J

I think the public is also understanding the power of social media. My son (he's 14) came to me on Friday about the Verizon fee. I had not even heard of it yet, by the end of the day Verizon retreated and indicated they would not be charging the fee!
