A State of Emergency - Colorado

My nephew lives right outside the south entrance to Garden of the Gods in Manitou, they are very worried about there home as well, and his wifes uncle lost there home in Perssimon subdivision. 

My family and I just spent two weeks in Colorado Springs and Estes Park. This is such a shame - some of the most beautiful treasures on earth could be destroyed. I have an aunt and uncle in Woodland Park and am praying for theirs and everyones elses safety.

Hi Joan,  We get a lot of questions about hurricanes here in Florida.  Actually,  in southwest Florida they have been very rare but we still get the questions.  I normally point out that at any given time Mother Nature is exerting her will somewhere in the country.  Hope the fires are under control soon !

Joan, thanks for the excellent update with your current situation in Colorado in reference to the fires. It must be a frightening moment. We all need to be praying for you and everyone who lives there. 

New Mexico and Montana too.  Helena is a gorgeous town and there's a fire right outside of that town. Just so glad for very little loss of life and no firefighters lost.  Thank-you everyone for your prayers for RAIN!!

I was watching this on the news yesterday.  We were in Denver last year and visited the Garden of the Gods.  I recognized the pictures.  It is sad to see what is happening and very disturbing to think that this type of destruction may have been set ablaze intentionally.  I am praying for strength for those who are fighting to put out the fire and for the many who have lost their homes & possessions or are displaced.

Joan, the newscasts coming from Colorado are indeed scary!  And people have to make such quick decisions about what to take when they evacuate. 

Joan~ I hope things get better soon, its a very scary situation, fire is no joke!

Joan -- I saw this on TV briefly this a.m. and it did not register it was your area. PLEASE stay safe and vigilant.  Fires can shift very quickly. I will pray for your safety and an end to this.

Joan, I saw pictures on the news this morning, what a scene. I hope you get a break in the weather soon to help curtail the fires.

Joan, I'm so sorry to hear about this happening in your home state of Colorado...how awful. I hope this comes to an end soon. :)

Joan, This a scary time for Colorado! I hope that you, your family and friends are safe. My mom and I have been watching this on the news and it terrible! I will pray for rain, not thunderstorms for the needed areas soon!

I watch the weather channel every morning and have been hearing about the wildfires, etc.  I  pray for the families and fireman, etc. every day.

Joan, I've been watching the fires on the news...very scary!  Keeping all in my prayers.

Everytime I see a report about the fires in CO, we are thinking of you Joan. 

Joan:  I never even knew that Colorado had the potential for such outrageous fires!  I hope they are all out soon!

Joan - I hope that they are able to bring these under control very soon and that Florida will lend you some of their water.

It is unfortunate to see so many nice homes lost, I hope that no people are caught in this dangerous situation.

Many people don't realize when they locate their homes in these forests that many western forest types need an occasional fire to go through to clean up the excess fuel that will eventually build up and fuel a large fire.  In-adequate harvesting and cleansing fires are the major reasons for the large uncontrolled fires that we are experiencing now throughout the sw region.
