The Little Ice Rink is back at the Alameda South Shore Center

The Little Ice Rink was a big hit last years at its Park Street location.  Well it is back now at Alameda’s South Shore Center adjacent to Petco on the southeast side of the South Shore Center off Park Street.  The Little Ice Rink will be open through January 21, 2012.

The Little Ice Rink was a gift to the community from Alameda’s Perforce Software Foundation.  The Little Ice Rink is supported not only by Perforce Software Foundation but also by the South Shore Center, Executive Inn & Suites Embarcadero Cove, Bayside Hotel in Oakland and Bank of America.

The Little Ice Rink will be open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Call 510-521-8100 for more information.

Oh my, Evelyn, your post brings back childhood memories of outside ice rink.  Ours was open Thanksgiving through mid-March depending on the weather.

I bet the kids and adults, alike, will have fun.

Hi Evelyn,

It looks like a fun place to ice skate and the cool weather this weekend is probably getting many out this weekend. Thanks for giving me some great memories of when I lived in Minot, ND.

Mary:  Growing up in the Bay Area, the only ice skating we did was at a skating rink.  My husband, who grew up in Omaha remembers skating at the local pond.  That must have been fun.

Kristin:  We had some rain today which isn't good for the ice, but it didn't stop the kids from skating after the rain let up.
