John G’s Restaurant - Manalapan, FL- Definitely Worth a Wait!

If you’ve lived in Palm Beach County for any amount of time you’ve heard of the French ToastJohn G's at John G’s!  And, if you’re lucky, you’ve actually tried it!

John G’s has been serving breakfast and lunch in Palm Beach County for 40 years.  My first trip to John G’s was when it was located in the old Lake Worth Casino on A1A overlooking the ocean.  During season, no one minded standing in the line that inevitably wound around the corner.  We knew it was well worth the wait.

In May 2011, John G’s closed when the Lake Worth Casino closed for a $6 million renovation.  We only had to wait 4 months, and the new John G’s restaurant opened it’s new location just down the road in the Plaza Del Mar shopping center on South Ocean.

Nothing has changed, though, except for the address.  The French Toast is still light and still served with warm maple syrup.  If you want to be a little daring, you can try the Raisin Cream Cheese French Toast with warm raisin syrup.

And, if you think you’ve had scrambled eggs and bacon, not until you’ve had those at John G’s.  I’m not sure if he has the Golden Hen laying the Golden eggs in the kitchen but they are the best I’ve ever had….. creamy and fluffy!  Oh, yes, and real bacon… not the thin limp strips served elsewhere!

And it doesn’t stop with breakfast!  There are Fish and Chips, Burgers, Fried Shrimp, a triple decker BLT, Salads, and soups.

John G's

The next time you’re out for a beautiful drive along A1A, head north on A1A from Delray Beach, past the Boynton inlet!

There is no substitute for a great breakfast place.  If they've been around that long, I'll bet there is a line out the door on weekend mornings.

Hi Kathy -- although I rarely eat it anymore, whenever I hear French Toast my thoughts immediately go to comfort food.   I must say I never heard of it being described as light French Toast.

Wayne- if you ever get over to this side, you've got to try it.

BARFF- Larry makes it the "real" way!  It's so good!

Geri- Everything there is so good; no skimping on anything.

Michael- I understand.... French Toast, waffles and pancakes are treats for us.

Bobbie- I know.  It's a very special place.

Scott- you should see it since the remodel!  It is really nice!

Dorie- I love that the syrup comes out warm!

Toni- well, yours was probably healthier, but if you're down this way, my treat!

Kristin- there are very few places where I would wait, and this is one of them.

Bryan- especially so during season!

Jeffrey- me too!!!  I love watching the Food Network as well.

Michael- LOL- when you finish eating it, you don't feel stuffed as if you'd just eaten a loaf of bread!

Reading about John G's Restaurant has made me hungry.  Only, I don't know if it's for French Toast or Fish and Chips now.
