Today is our 46th Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations to both of us. In today’s world, I would call us “survivors.” Try as I might, I cannot fathom where all those days, weeks, months and years have gone. As with all marriages, there have been many ups and downs along the bumpy path of 46 years. We have experienced some incredible highs~~times filled with joy and happiness as we watched our family grow and mature. But, the flip side of that coin is that we have suffered periods of excruciating lows~~points in time where our souls were dying and our hearts were broken. Together we weathered these storms of life. One of us was always strong for the other and we always seemed to know our part of this equation. We are a formidable force when we stand side by side.
Did you notice I did not mention money as success?? We have experienced some very lean years along the way, but it just made us work just a tad bit harder and a bit longer. Money comes and money goes. It does not buy happiness. It can make one’s life easier and it can lead one down a very destructive path if financial gain rules one’s life. I firmly believe that the only real problems in life are those that cannot be solved with money. Happiness, joy, and good health are not bought with a VISA Card.
So, enough of my soap box speech~~~~now I can ramble on about the weather, my pumpkins, the weather, my husband’s car, the weather.............................It is HOT!! It has been HOT for too long and the long range forecast is for more heat. UGH! I am one cranky old lady in this heat. My outside play time is limited to very early morning hours. I wilt after ten o’clock in the morning. I return to the outside environs of my yard after five in the afternoon. With our California drought, I have not bucketed so much water since the drought of 1977. My Pumpkin Patch is taking over the Vegetable Garden and I commune with my little, orange orbs each morning. Truth be told, I still have a pumpkin from last year’s crop in my garage and it is doing just fine, thank you. Lastly, my husband’s car has, once again, returned to the Dark Side. Possession of GM Evil Spirts have taken over the car’s Computer System. Leaving it in a parkig lot with the keys in it has become my number one solution to our problem. The dealer, in their esteemed wisdom, told us they could find nothing wrong with it.
Happy Anniversary to my Roommate!! You still make me laugh and that is the very best! I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer Days.
