Finally, 6 Years, 2 Hours and Many Posts Later... We Met.
I am speechless… well almost. Today I finally got to meet my good friend Sharon Tara.
Yesterday while roaming around Facebook, I saw a photo of Sharon that she’d taken at the Florida State line.
“Are you in Florida?”
I knew her parents were snowbirds somewhere in Florida and we’d talked of someday being able to meet.
I have no idea how often we talk, but it’s been many times over the years.
She is the one I call when I am in Home Goods shopping for inventory.
“Sharon, tell me to get out of here, quick!"
And, in October 2013, I wrote a post “Meet My Friend Sharon Tara…. One Day We Will.”
Sharon and her beautiful daughter, Ashley, had driven down from New Hampshire to surprise Sharon’s parents. And after driving for almost 2 days, Ashley offered to drive 2 hours today so Sharon and I could meet. I drove up from Delray Beach (2 hours) and would gladly do it again.
The funny thing is, since we’ve been talking to each other over the years about all sorts of things, meeting Sharon was a really big thing and yet it wasn’t.
What I mean is that we were just as I’d imagined we would be… like 2 good friends who’d known each other for years and picked up right where we left off.
And yet, to see the 3 dimensional Sharon vs the virtual or digital Sharon was such a thrill for me.
She is exactly as I knew she would be. I just wish she lived here and we could collaborate on staging projects.
And, Sharon’s daughter? Ashley looks like Sandra Bullock and has a beautiful spirit. I’m trying to get her to come down to Delray Beach to experience Atlantic Avenue!
A big Thank You to Ashley Tara for hijacking your mother and driving her to Florida and then driving her across the state so we could meet.
I will always remember this!
