This was a project where the key was to get out of the way. We used some rental furniture, antiques on loan from private sources, and some of the homeowner's own pieces. Every wall has another unique, exquisite finish. The baseboard you see in this photo in the foyer is bamboo. Cool, eh?

It's only been on the market a week, but there are folks circling already. You can imagine!

No, LaShawn, that was deliberate on my part. I have a theory about strategic mistakes in design that trigger people's Rescue Mania...and I like the careless, casual feel of a pillow just tossed up against the bed as if you were about to finish making the bed when the White House called! ;-)

Thanks, Julia. This was a project where the whole team was in awe all the time. Such a great home.

The pears painting... a well-known NJ artist named Pyrsda. My guess is he doens't originate in Jersey! But then so many talented people don't .... er-hum! It cost me $2,500 at a time when I was collecting art (aka had more money than sense!!) and I love it. I try to use it sparingly, but it always make a space so exciting. It's the exception to my rule about good art distracting from the home. I'm always so happy when it comes home to the DR once more.
