Sedona Weather

2016 thru 2017

Looking at the Precipitation for 2016, Our yearly total is the highest year since 2010. December was a record breaking month all around. We had 7.22 inches of rain and another 7.5 inches of snow!

So far in 2017 thru March, the mean temps have been within 1.3º of 2016. Our precipitation levels are double the start of the record breaking year we had in 2016. We already have had 7.11 inches of rain and 4.25 inches of snow!

Temps for Sedona weather

Yesterday, I took some friends out to the backyard to show them how we are surrounded by pine trees and junipers.  When we sit in the backyard, it feels like we are camping. I also wanted to show our friends how the building envelope concept works, allowing animals to roam through the property so they can migrate. As I walked to the back of the wall, I realized that you could no longer see the home to the north of our property. I was completely surprised!

Below is an image that completely hides the home to the north.

Here is a 35 second video that climbs above the trees to show the building envelopes and the thick healthy pine and juniper trees! Shot April 8th, 2017

This is so true Sandy & Norm!  Last year the bunny population exploded (I saw a lot more...). The coyotes seem to have more body weight as well. We do get deer and javelina on a regular basis. Bobcats don't come through unless their feeding territory is affected.  Some have a den around a water tower which is not far away.

Hi Jeff Dowler - We had so many days of rain or snow that was able to penetrate rather than run off.  Now we can't get over how it all is filling in.

Sheri, very nice post, and you have had quite a lot of precipitation this year.   Having that many trees sure does give a homeowner very nice privacy.

Hi Joan, I am not a camper, (been there ...done that!) but you can go in the backyard and feel like you are camping. We actually turn the lights out so we don't miss any stars!

Sheri,

What an interest post from the weather perspective.  One of the reasons we live here is weather, and we realize that we pay dearly for this wonderful weather.  And within our county there are micro-climates...so I definitely get it.  A

Hi Alexandra, If I didn't get asked this question at least a couple of times a week, I probably wouldn't think too much about it.  The misconception that we have the same weather as the southern part of the state sparks the questions.

The pines are blooming here and the pollen is on the cars and in the air. I love the spring but not the allergy weather associated with it.

Juniper pollen is our big concern. It almost looks like smoke when a wind comes up!

Hi Bob, we are in the Central Highlands Transition Zone to the Colorado Plateau. We are not in the Sonoran Desert. This makes the climate more temperate without the extremes.
