Another Good Reason to Comment and to Read Comments!
How do you know who we are? When I joined ActiveRain, I didn’t know any of the members...I just started reading the posts and comments.
Some of you were invited by other members and were given some guidance. But if like me, you did not know another member, how do you get to know who we are?
What worked for me was reading the comments made on my post and on the posts of others.
You’ve heard of Roger Mucci. I read his comment on someone else’s post and I found it funny and thoughtful, so I went to his profile, and I read more of his comments. I started following him and we became friends.
Same thing with many others here. Some of the comments were well thought out...some were funny...others asked questions... many created conversations. Most showed that they had actually read my post!
The flip side is that on occasion, I’ve read comments left by someone new-to-me and I thought...well there’s someone I don’t need to know.
There’s no right or wrong to commenting. What it boils down to is what you hope to get out of your membership here.
Another reason? Even if you’ve been here forever, it never hurts to get to know new-to-you members. That member you’ve never “met” could be a real asset to our community and teach us all something. Their comments are our way of getting to know them.
So, if you’re a drive-thru reader and commenter, you may be missing out on meeting some interesting members!!!
I’ve often said that I learn something new here every day and it’s still true...and some of that comes from your comments.
