Folks around here will even run out in front of a cop car. It seems like this young man will live to tell of his story- and I hope he tells others not to dart out into traffic! West Palm boy struck by police cruiser recovering, his father says Raymundo Perez told police he had yelled at his son numerous times for darting off the bus and sprinting across the street, police said. But the parent's warnings weren't enough (2 comments)
This story from the summer is a bit interesting- pedestrians walking into the path of motorcycles is a bit rare. This is another death under the watch of Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orlando Police Chief John W. Mina.

This one's a bit interesting- as a guy who shouldn't have been drinking and driving hit and killed a guy who shouldn't have been standing in the middle of the road. It's also interesting- in that when pedestrians are killed around here, the pedestrian is intoxicated twice as often as the driver involved.
This is a death falling under the watch of Lake County Sheriff Gary Borders.

Quite frankly, my first reaction to this story was "Really? I wouldn't imagine a Smart Car could hit someone hard enough to kill 'em".

The following tragedy from Halloween is hardly surprising. As in the photos above that I took one day while watching a couple push their child in a stroller into the path of more than one vehicle, children learn at a terribly young age that walking into traffic is both a way of life- and death.
It's my hope that the neighbor mentioned in this story is prosecuted for his contribution to the death of this child.
The answer to the question at the end of this story is clear: like nowhere else in the world, folks around here are accustomed to walking into the paths of automobiles.
This is another death under the watch of Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orlando Police Chief John W. Mina.
Whether local folks or out-of-towners, the result is always the same when one chooses to step into the path of a car. And in this case, there was no "strength in numbers".
This death was yet another falling under the watch of Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orlando Police Chief John W. Mina. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-benjamin-meza-dead-pedestrian-20141101-story.html

The following is an unfortunate incident that happened Halloween night. The video above is footage I took myself- as this death wasn't too far from my place and I passed by it on the way home.
Out of respect for the dead here, I'll eschew a question I'd typically ask when reading this story- in wondering why a 14-year-old was trick-or-treating in the first place. Instead, I'll point out the attitude of the boy- which he undoubtedly learned (0 comments)
Another reader/viewer may have summed this one up best- when saying the best way to avoid deaths like these is that you "Don't wear a black hoodie and walk around in the middle of the road at night". This death falls under the watch of Ocoee Police Chief Charles Brown and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. A little law enforcement on the pedestrians' side would go along way, fellas.
