mortgage: Guidance For Getting To The Closing Table - 08/11/13 06:56 AM
It is Sunday Afternoon and it’s hard to believe but I actually have a bit of a slowdown today.  As a result, I thought I would write something that would be helpful to all present and future buyers of Real Estate.
I am reminded of when three or four buyers (over the past few years) made a serious error in judgement while in a Contract to purchase a house. Because of the error, they sabotaged their Real Estate deal that was nearing completion. You read the previous sentence just right, but let me be even clearer: They lost the house they were … (74 comments)

mortgage: Get Your Free Credit Score Here - 05/04/13 07:59 AM
One of the issues I often discuss on this blog is in reference to getting your
Pre-Approval for your next Mortgage.
I've noted recently, in talking with clients who already have their Pre-Approval, that
one reason some of them dragged their feet in this process, is they
feared rejection when asking for a loan. I understand this because I am much
the same way. Who wants to experience rejection? This is why I am always
checking my Credit Score. I want to know where I stand with my Credit.
While there is other criteria involved in securing your next Mortgage, we all … (5 comments)

mortgage: Some Answers To Your Mortgage Questions - 04/27/13 06:22 AM
As a Realtor®, I’m often asked Mortgage Questions. For example: “How do I know if I can pay my Mortgage off early?” “What is simple interest?” “How much of my payment is actually going toward paying down what I owe?” The list can certainly go on and on.
Let me clear the air… My first response when asked Mortgage Questions is always: “You need to talk with your Bank or perhaps your Loan Officer.” Why? I am not a Mortgage Professional – I am a Realtor®!
Since you now know that I’m not a Mortgage Professional, let me direct you to a great … (1 comments)

mortgage: Your Launching Pad To A Successful Home Purchase - 12/18/12 08:05 AM
The Space Program was in it's infancy during my growing up years. In fact, I remember one of my teachers in Grade School stating, "We will go to the moon someday", and I thought she was a little crazy, perhaps running on a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Well, she turned out to be absolutely right. We did go, walked on the moon and returned. The fact is, our country has enjoyed huge success in traveling through space. As I've pondered our triumphant Space Travel, I've had to ask myself this question: What was the single most important reason for … (8 comments)

mortgage: A Must Read For Anyone Securing A Mortgage - 10/31/12 04:04 AM
A Must Read For Anyone Securing A Mortgage.First of all and most important - I am NOT a Mortgage Professional. I am a Realtor®...Having stated the above,  I listen intently to Mortgage Professionals and my clients describing what it is like to secure a Mortgage these days. One thing that comes up again and again is in the area of Personal Bank Accounts and deposits. In fact, many clients have expressed their frustration to me and I simply remind them that rules are rules and that their Loan Officer is, in all probability, just doing his/her job.One of our local Mortgage … (4 comments)

mortgage: First Things First When Purchasing A House - 09/22/12 09:16 AM
First things First When Purchasing A House:Here is a true and current picture of Real Estate in Northern Virginia. This last few days have been very interesting when it comes to scheduling Home Tours within the Northern Virginia area. While I have several clients I'm working with, two in particular each sent me several listings of homes they would like to tour. When the homes were totaled for both clients, there were 13 that would be toured and they were all showing Active when I received the list. However, by the time we reached the actual day of the tour, 3 days after … (5 comments)

mortgage: Interest Rates Have Been Moving Higher - 12/10/10 03:55 AM
It is important to note that interest rates have been moving higher. In fact, one of my Mortgage Loan Officers I use, just reminded me of this very important fact: Every time interest rates rise, the amount of home a purchaser can afford goes down. Think about that fact just for a moment as you journey to the two links provided below.
The first link talks about how interest rates are rising and the second will give you today's rate: Bankrate: Mortgage Rates Up and Current Mortgage Rates. Finally, always remember that knowledge is power when endeavoring to buy or sell Real … (0 comments)

mortgage: House Hunting Guidance - 03/02/08 06:28 AM
Be assured that house hunting is truly a challenge. You should also be aware that knowledge can be and often is power throughout the entire process. This writing is specifically for the purpose of giving you basic information. Here are five thoughts to consider: 1. How much house can you afford? It makes no sense to start looking and fall in love with a house until you know what you can spend. For example, you wouldn't go grocery shopping without knowing your budget for groceries. How much you can spend for a house is determined by getting approved for a mortgage. … (0 comments)

mortgage: How Interest Rates Could Influence Your Next Home Purchase - 02/13/08 07:23 AM
While managing a Real Estate office I watched one of our agents work with some clients who wanted to buy a house and had gotten their pre-approval for a loan. The realtor's assumption was this couple, with that approval were actually ready to make the purchase. His clients continued to look for a house but unfortunately were taking longer than what the agent thought they would take. The clients were first time home buyers, purchasing an entry level house, which was really all that they could afford and in fact, barely qualified for the mortgage. Here is the kicker and something … (0 comments)
