credit repair: Credit Score Tips for Buying A Home 2019 - 08/05/19 08:19 AM
Your credit score is made up of several things. I’m going to give you some examples, based upon the weighted average of how it will impact your score, of things you can do to improve your credit score.  Obviously, my hope is that you will use this information to raise your credit score and buy a house – but the honest truth is that a stronger credit score can also save you money on credit card interest, and insurance!
IN GENERAL, to have access to the best programs, and the best mortgage rates you should have a credit score of at least … (14 comments)

credit repair: Who Keeps Track of My Credit? - 11/29/17 08:11 AM
Many of our clients are hyper focused on their credit report and their credit scores because they want to buy a home in NC, and they need to get their scores to the point where that dream of owning a home becomes a REALITY!

A credit report is just a complete accounting of your credit history, and although it’s a bit confusing, Einstein did NOT make the system up!

Your credit report records:
• Payment histories and amount of time accounts are open.
• Request for credit (inquires),
• Results of legal proceedings and personal data (like where you live and tax collections)

credit repair: FTC Cracks Down on "Free Credit Reports" That Just Aren't - 03/10/10 03:47 AM
I'm tired of that "F-R- Double E Spells FREE" credit report commercial!    Because what they are "hawkin' is NOT free! Thankfully, on March 3, 2010 the Federal Trade Commission file a revision to the Free Annual File Disclosure Rule to address the abuses and deceptive advertising for Free Credit Reports.  This was part of the new Credit Card Accountability and Responsibility Act 2009.
The new disclosure is available now, but must be used after April 2, 2010, per the FTC ruling... however the Radio and Television Ads don't have to go off air until September 1, 2010 (although the advertisements must … (62 comments)

credit repair: Your 10% Discount at Victoria's Secret is not really a deal... Just Sayin'. - 03/08/10 03:06 AM
You know how you sign up for a store credit card, and they give you a 10% discount off that purchase?  Okay, so let's say you "Stumble" in Victoria's Secret, and you purchase $350 worth of, ughmm, "clothing."  They offer you a 10% discount and future great discounts, if you sign up for a Victoria's Secret Card!  Cool, save $35!  Not so cool.
One of the things we are seeing that is hurting people's credit scores right now is the use of what I call "Third Party" Cards.
Those credit cards from Best Buy, or Macy's or Pottery Barn... or Victoria's … (4 comments)

credit repair: WOW! MyFICO Did A Valentine's Day Survey! - 02/11/10 05:59 AM
MyFICO did a Valentine's Survey - and SHOCK, SHOCK... it turns out Girls Really do find Bigger Scores Sexy!
In these conservative times, I guess it's not surprising that 60% of the people taking the Survey said they would not consider dating someone with a Credit Score less than 550 - and the majority felt that a score of 760 is pretty much THE BOMB!!
"We're a bit embarrassed to report that men were 6 times more likely to choose "good looking" as the most important characteristic in a date."  I also thought it was interesting that TWICE as many women … (7 comments)

credit repair: If You're Huntin' A Better Credit Score - Let Sleepin' Dawgs Lie! - 01/13/10 03:13 AM
If you are looking for a new home, you are probably aware that your Credit Score is a CRITICAL item in determining your interest rate and possibly how much house you can buy / qualify for!
We talk to people every week who receive a copy of their credit report, see some derogatory remarks from 2005 and immediately start writing dispute letters.
This might not be your best strategy (each case is different of course), because the credit score is really an indication of what you are about to do.  It tries to PREDICT what your credit behavior is going to … (4 comments)

credit repair: When The Option Is: Refinance or Sell - 05/28/08 10:19 AM
Gas is now over $4.00 a gallon, and the Raleigh SPCA just announced it's at capacity because people can no longer afford to pay for their pets.  It's a sad time.
And it's no longer something that's just happening in California... or Ohio... or Florida.  It's hitting home here in the Triangle where families were already walking a fine line living on credit cards to go on vacation.  The little bit of money Dubbya sent - barely made a dent for some folks.
If you are one of those people who had an adjustable rate mortgage, you're also trying to balance … (6 comments)
