baltimore: Thinking Putty...Have You Tried It Yet? - 11/26/11 03:59 PM
This has nothing to do with real estate, nothing to do with technology but it is an addictive product. You have to try Thinking Putty.  In case you are somewhere and you can not use your iPhone or iPad or any other device...this is the sure thing to keep your hands occupied. Thinking Putty is like a silly putty but more for adults. It relieves (or gives) stress and may even spark some creative thoughts while keeping your hands busy and away from the computer. Watching and listening to my daughter, Erica, who has many of the 30 different colors … (9 comments)

baltimore: The Duchess, the King and the Baltimore Connection. - 11/16/11 02:32 PM
Today at  The Lecture Group  we listened to Zippy Larson speak about her favorite subject... The Duchess, the King and the Baltimore Connection.  Zippy has done so much research and has a wealth of information...enough to fill a semester, or two. The Smithsonian Institution Resident Associates asked her to research the Baltimore years of Wallis Warfield Simpson and devise a tour especially for them focusing on King Edward and Mrs Simpson in Baltimore.  From this tour she started lecturing on the subject.   Zippy spoke from A-Z and  "almost"  wrapped it up in an hour. Her enthusiasm, on the subject of … (9 comments)

Turn Your Clocks Back One Hour... Day Light Saving Time

We all remember the phrase "Spring forward, Fall back" which reminds us how Daylight Saving Time affects all our time telling devices, including computers, clocks, iPhones, iPads, microwaves, car clocks and the numerous watches and time pieces we may own. The first Sunday morning in November, the 6th at 2 a.m, is the time we "fall back". Might be easier to change them before you go to bed tonight. Please don't forget to set your clocks back one hour and return to Standard Time. Remember … (10 comments)

baltimore: Our Job is to Get Signatures! - 11/01/11 01:42 PM

I have seen agents "focus" so much on one thing like FaceBook, Twitter, flyers, emails or other  various 'busy' activities, they forget what's important. The goal is to get signatures! Signatures on listings, signatures on buyer agency, signatures on offers, signatures negotiating, signatures on home inspections and signatures on the documents at the closing table.Whenever I am not going after a signature by way of a listing appointment, showing homes,  going on inspections, appraisals, taking seminars,  spending personal time with family and friends...then I can usually be found in … (44 comments)

Set Up The iPhone From The iPad Via Skype.. Do you remember not too long ago when I got my First Apple Product? Today the second Apple product..the iPhone arrived. I took a picture of the box, then a picture of the phone in the box, then went to the AT&T store and Paul was a tremendous help and very patient switching my service from another carrier and transferring data from two previous phones into the new very pretty iPhone. (That's another post for later.) And then my beautiful brilliant daughter who convinced me to get involved with the apple … (8 comments)

What a nice way to spend a couple of hours...having lunch with a special friend named Joeann Fossland... one of the top 25 women in real estate. I am never too busy to take time see Joeann and this weekend was no exception. Since Joeann had a plane to catch at four, we met at G & M Restaurant, very convenient to the Baltimore airport.. and they do have the best crab cakes in town.  Great friends, great conversation and great food...who could ask for more. Joeann topped it off by bringing me these pretty flowers.                For years I have known this caring, sharing and amazing woman. We … (22 comments)

Pumpkin Patch in Baltimore

October is a very exciting time at Neu-Valley Nurseries in Baltimore. There are lots of colorful mums, pumpkins of all sizes and colorfully textured gourds. If you are decorating for Halloween, this seems to be the place.  In addition to the large orange gourds...there are pumpkin carving kits, yard signs, and ghosts on poles. It was fun seeing the kids pick just the perfect pumpkin. My daughter knows the pansy is my favorite flower and Erica located … (6 comments)

Blogging Might Get You Some Dessert at Donna's in Baltimore's Cross Keys! It might also get a new ActiveRain Member!

It was late in afternoon when we finished an appointment in Baltimore's  Village of Cross Keys. We stopped to have a late lunch (or really early dinner) at Donna's. It was relatively quiet and our waitress was a delight.  I ordered the roasted vegetable salad and Lee ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. Oh no...again  forgot to photograph our meals. I asked Janine to … (16 comments)

And to Ellie McIntire who I didn't see in Kerrie's video... here is a picture of you and Carolyn at our meetup. Thanks for showing up in liquid sunshine and traffic.

Kerrie, The video is fantastic. I watched it a couple of times. Now if only I could name everyone...
Is it possible to have AR members get together and be unsuccessful? I think NOT!

baltimore: Caution ....When the Traffic Lights Are Not Working...Treat Like a 4 Way Stop Sign!! - 08/29/11 03:24 PM
Caution ....When the Traffic Lights Are Not Working...Treat Like a 4 Way Stop Sign!! The Baltimore area along with the entire east coast has felt the effects of Hurricane Irene. We were fortunate  there was not more damage. Lots of trees and debris all over our city and most has been cleaned up. What we are finding is power outages...not only in homes, condos and business but in our traffic lights. There has been an increase in accidents at  intersections with non functioning traffic lights. Do you know the procedure when approaching a light that is out?            … (21 comments)

Have to catch a flight or have to pick someone up from the Balitimore airport? Save some extra time and stop in at G&M Restaurant. If you like our Maryland blue crab delicacy, you owe it to yourself to try one of these scrumptious crabcakes! I am not sure you will find better anywhere. Try going at an off hour, they get really busy and the wait can be quite long. Last week when we picked Chet up from the airport we stopped for a late lunch. Around 3 PM was idea plenty of diners but we were able to … (18 comments)

baltimore: Stay-cation in Baltimore...Is It Right For You? - 07/07/11 03:06 PM
Stay-cation...Is It Right For You?
My recent post Jump in..the Water's Fine! Vacationing in Baltimore, received this comment from a wonderful member Christine O'Shea, a Broker in Naples, Florida:

''Ahhh, nothing like a "stay-cation" Baltimore style...''  You don't have to forgo a vacation this year. Just rename it..a ''stay-cation".

Think of the economy if we all encouraged Stay-cations. We could help our local business community while saving on gas, reduce the stress of traveling, no lines at the airport, no lodging costs and NO PACKING !!  With no travel time...you have more time for vacation and fun.

baltimore: When Life Gives You Lemons.... - 06/25/11 06:42 AM
In Baltimore, Ice cream and  Snowballs are a couple of ways to keep cool in our warm, humid weather. We've found another... indoor lemonade stand. When Life gives you Lemons ...Squeeze 'em. That's what Phillippe, Morgan, and Claudia do. These entrepreneur kids have set up a stand in their family-owned business. They came up with the slogan.

Do you recognize that puffer above in the Fish Tank?
Here is Claudia and Phillippe at One World Lemonade. When you enter Poulet, these youngsters offer you a free sample of their homemade refreshing drinks.                           … (19 comments)

baltimore: It's Ninety Degrees ...But There Are Snowballs in Baltimore. - 06/23/11 03:52 PM
It's ninety degrees...but there are snowballs in Baltimore..not this kind of snowball from last winter.
These snowballs grow on trees and bushes and produce some beautiful flowers with  colors ranging from white, to pink, to blue, to purple.  I have heard of red but have not seen them. These bluish, purple or pink flowers add a color you don't normally see in the flower garden.
Another name for hydrangeas are snowballs, and we have some beauties in the Baltimore area. I snapped these photos at my Gardenview property   that is now under contract.
