youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - Tell me a Good Story! - 04/24/14 12:28 AM
YouTube Thursdays - Video storyboards bring your script to life.
( First of all, if you don’t have a script for your video - start here)
If you want to make your video marketing efforts more productive, and easier, don’t forget to come up with a storyboard, or at least an outline of what you’re trying to accomplish. A good video, like a good story, should have a plan ( a good plot) with a beginning, middle, and end.
A true storyboard is a graphic representation of your video, shot by shot. It’s made up of a number of squares with … (53 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - The Importance of Audio in your Videos - 03/27/14 06:59 AM
YouTube Thursdays. The Importance of the Audio in your Videos.

Today, YouTube Thursdays focuses on the importance of using music, natural sound, or both in videos. Videos have the power to create an experience - they can transport us, and evoke emotions. Leaving out the benefits of setting a scene through the use of music or natural sound is a huge mistake. Yet, it happens more often than not.
Rather than writing about the significance of good audio selections, here are three examples of videos clips that underscore the point. These scenes are taken from a video I produced for my Fishhawk Lake … (26 comments)

YouTube Thursdays - Introductory Videos - A  Little Less You
Over the past few years, many of you have expressed a fear of being “on camera.”  That’s understandable, but it’s one of the best ways to introduce yourself and connect with prospective clients.  If there’s one thing that should put your mind to ease, it’s that many of the videos I see feature way too much of the agent/mortgage broker/etc., and not enough about their subjects - area sites, clients, neighborhoods, and homes.
First of all, few of us can hold anyone’s attention as a talking-head in ANY video. In addition, … (65 comments)

YouTube Thursday - Are You Camera Ready?                                     (Join Here)
We’re shooting an introductory video for our new company website next week. Since I have a broadcast background that included some TV, our Broker asked me to share some tips with the other team members regarding their appearance.
It seems worthwhile to share the information with you too, since I know it can be daunting for all of us to appear in front of a camera. The last thing you need to worry about is what to wear, and for women, your hair and make-up.
Here are the Do’s to keep in … (48 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays 2/6/2014 - Show some Love! - 02/06/14 08:51 AM
YouTube Thursdays - February 2, 2014 - Show some Love!

This is the month to show some love to your video marketing. For example, you can focus on favorite spots for Valentine’s Day, feature a candy store or florist, or just create a warm connection with another business.
Currently, I’m working on a video featuring a new area business called “The Cat’s Meow - Luxury Boarding” (for felines) in Southwest Washington. One of the business partners is a client-turned friend, as well as, a great human-being.

It’s a project that will likely get them some business - and help me … (47 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - 1/16/2014 - Snow Happy Dog! - 01/16/14 01:01 AM
Recently, we took a short trip to Bend, Oregon. Bend is located about 3 and half hours from our home in Clark County, Washington. The climate is dramatically different than ours, and snow is a common occurrence.
Our white Golden Retriever, Mac, who doesn't get to see, or play in snow on a regular basis, found the cold, white stuff irresistible. We indulged him a few moments of joy during a walk through the neighborhood.
This short video is also a bit indulgent. After all, can we expect other people to appreciate our children, dogs, perspectives, and/or moments quite the way we … (68 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - 1/9/14 - Think Quick - Micro Videos! - 01/09/14 07:57 AM
YouTube Thursdays 1/9/2014 - Short and Sweet ( Micro-videos)
I know you’ve been hearing it from me for several years, keep your videos short - as in under three minutes. Naturally, if it is a listing video, that criteria changes. However, for your community features, events, and information videos, brevity is king. Many of mine are under two minutes. In my opinion, it’s plenty of time to get the message across.
However, there’s a new trend emerging that's worth noting - micro videos. Micro-videos are approximately 6 - 15 seconds in length and can be used on Twitter, Facebook, and other social … (32 comments)

YouTube Thursdays - January 2, 2014 - Top MarketingTool for the New Year!
Happy New Year from YouTube Thursdays. It’s 2014 and video continues to be one of the top marketing tools for businesses - large and small. It’s wise to jump on board considering projections for video's popularity with web-users.
How to use videos effectively.
In addition, research tells us more people make positive purchasing and investing decisions when they see a video. Therefore, it’s important to create videos that are engaging and effective. With that in mind, here are a few of the basics.

Be helpful - instructional videos … (69 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - What are you passionate about? - 11/06/13 11:43 PM
Charlie Dresen has done it again! When Steamboat Springs was chosen as a favorite by several magazines, including Dog Fancy and Outside, he capitalized on the opportunity. Few people have as much passion about the place they call home as he regularly exudes.
Today, YouTube Thursdays reminds us to seize the day when opportunity knocks. When your market gets an accolade, take advantage of it and strut your stuff.  Charlie's great article, Outside Magazine is Playing Favorites, includes this awesome video.
For obvious reasons, Charlie is one of my favorite videographers. His videos are not only filled with great footage, but they … (15 comments)

YouTube Thursdays - Auto Awesome Movie
YouTube Thursdays Group YouTube Thursdays My friend and Vblogger founder, Pamela St. Peter invited me to become a member of Auto Awesome. Google+ users will all have access to the multi-media features. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to play yet, but I will!
It seems to represent another good option in our marketing efforts for listings, communities, and events. Personally, I'll be exploring Auto Awesome soon, and wanted to give you the heads-up.
Plus, just this week, there's news of even more features coming for what's being called Auto Awesome Movie. Apparently, it's like … (24 comments)

youtube thursdays: Youtube Thursdays - September 12, 2013 - A Portlandia Template! - 09/12/13 05:25 AM
Francine Viola from Olympia, WA shared a members only post this week. She used the Portlandia template to create a great video to showcase her city.
She also gives quite few other tips for getting those creative juices going - and also shared some sites for Royalty free music.

This is her Portlanda/Olympia video.

And in case you aren't familiar with Portlandia ( is that possible?), here's the original.

And, here's a link to her original post with helpful information. How I used Portlandia to create a video template. Oh, and be sure to "subscribe" to her … (13 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays! We're back! - September 5, 2013 - 09/05/13 12:04 AM
The wedding is history,  and my little girl is now a Mrs. I'm happy to report it went well and both bride and groom are happy. Therefore, my attention returns to marketing this Fall, and specifically video marketing. Honestly, you just can't beat it if you want to get "found" on the internet. YouTube videos will help your posts attract attention - more of it - and you'll notice a faster ranking.
Here are a few video marketing ideas that caught my attention over the last few weeks in Active Rain.
Bob Crane has a video contest that is nearly … (31 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursday - 7/11/13 People's Eyes Are Horizontal... LOL! - 07/11/13 01:08 AM
This is a busy summer, I'm planning my daughter's wedding and keeping up with a busy real estate market. Therefore, I've been a "bad girl" about posting to the YouTube Thursdays group on a regular basis. Today, July 11, 2013, I decided to repost my pal's blog.
It's a great reminder to " Just say "No" to Vertical Video Syndrome." Please visit Mel's original post to comment.
People's Eyes Are Horizontal... LOL!  Recently, I discovered I was afflicted by VVS... Vertical Video Syndrome.  That is until my son-in-law showed me the error of my ways on a recent trip to LA.  I … (0 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - 4/18/13 Free Video Clips for a Week - 04/18/13 02:59 AM

Please be advised - there a quite a few consumer complaints re: billing issues after the 7 day free trial.
I am also currently asking for written confirmation that Video Blocks can be used in the application that I promote in this post.
They advertise on the site that the Royalty free music and video can be used in ANY project. However, you'll find "mice type" saying it's for non-commercial use.  Read this update!

Today's YouTube Thursdays is about Video Blocks. Video Blocks is a royalty free music and video library that is continually updated. It's a great … (30 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays - New changes in March 2013 - 03/14/13 05:56 AM
YouTube has new changes for us - AGAIN!.  I know, I know, you're shaking your head and muttering, "Who has the time to keep up with all this stuff?" Believe me, I can relate. However, in my opinion, the changes are quite positive.
Branding a distinct and consistent message to our clients is paramount to our marketing efforts.  YouTube is getting on board with that concept and now gives us a change to add custom art work and a cool introductory video to our channels.
I'll be working on my short introductory video - it's important to keep it … (28 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursday - A Neighborhood Marketing Plan to save you time! - 01/02/13 11:29 PM
YouTube Thursdays returns with a new schedule for 2013, and a new focus, at least for the first quarter, on saving you time. Naturally, time management is something we all deal with. Sadly, the reason most Realtors give for not using video in their marketing efforts is a "lack of time."
Producing quality videos does take time, but there are some tricks for streamlining your efforts.  For example, my marketing plan for the first part of 2013 includes neighborhood videos. My plan includes organization, for both the shoot and the production, designed to cut down on the time.
1. Organize … (56 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays 11/15/12 - Don't Promote Your Competitors - Part 2 - 11/15/12 02:37 AM
YouTube Thursdays reminds you to get rid of the suggested videos at the end of your videos. No, this isn’t a re-run of last week’s post about keeping your competitors from appearing at the end of your embedded videos.

This week, discover how easy it is to prevent the suggested videos from showing up on your YouTube channel at the end of your videos. Currently, YouTube doesn’t give us an option for this, so here’s a little work-around.Today’s Channels to Subscribe to include:
Richard Yates (redo-link error last week)  Andy MooersBob Miller
  Pamela St. Peter Beverly Meaux
And, if you … (11 comments)

youtube thursdays: YouTube Thursdays 11/8/2012 - Don't Promote Your Competitors! - 11/07/12 10:25 PM
YouTube Thursdays returns this November 8th, 2012 with its original intent, to promote one another's YouTube Channels similar in style to Facebook Fridays. Plus, each week, the post will include either a new a tip for your channel, video ideas or inspiration, or video related marketing concepts.
Today's tip will help you get rid of that annoying screen of "related video" suggestions that show up at the end of your video on embedded players. Obviously, you don’t want people to see other related content that may well be from a direct competitor.

To add the update to previously embedded … (41 comments)

YouTube Thursdays - When Animoto Makes Sense
If you want to send out a quick seasonal email blast to your clients - it’s easy to include a video using a resource such as Animoto. Normally, I’m not a big fan of Animoto, but admittedly, in certain applications, it makes sense. For example, this video will accompany a market report.
Obviously, the Halloween theme is prominent.

The bottom line - there’s nothing scary or spooky about the market in Clark County, Wa. Providing, of course, you have me as your guide!

Animoto makes it easy to create a video - add … (23 comments)
