As part of our plans for 2011 and beyond, I'm looking to expand our team as we begin a new year. I figured it never hurts to spread the word via any means available to me.  With that in mind, I thought it might be a good idea to let my ActiveRain friends know that I am in full-on hiring mode right now.
If you're an agent who is working in Austin, and you're considering making a move, I would love the opportunity to speak with you.  If you're in another area and moving to Austin, call or email me and … (14 comments)

According to a recent study conducted by bizjournals of the largest 50 metropolitan areas in the country, Austin was named among the least stressful places to live in the United States.  As an Austin-area resident for the past 20 years, I am not surprised to hear this, as I have always described this town as laid-back and optimistic with a youthful spirit.

austin texas homes: The Secret Ingredient is Empathy - Lessons from the Grocery Store - 10/10/07 12:50 PM

We decided to get out of the house last night for awhile.  Unfortunately, we waited until it was a bit late to do much that would be fun for the kids, so we ended up doing a lot of much-needed grocery shopping instead.  We tried to make it a little bit fun by allowing the kids to pick a book or toy, and they actually really liked that.  My wife and I also rented a funny movie ("Blades of Glory") in an effort to lift our spirits a bit, since we have been faced with lots of decisions with regard … (107 comments)

austin texas homes: Are you helping your clients through the maze, or are you a stumbling block? - 09/26/07 07:04 AM
I am fast closing in on my eleven year anniversary in real estate (Jan. 2008), and I am still constantly amazed by how many agents and brokers I come across who are either misinforming their clients or simply allowing the client to set their own pre-conceived expecations.  We are the professionals, and as such it is our job to guide our clients through the maze of the transaction.
It seems to me that there are many agents who are content to let me do their job for them, and I'm sure that many of you have also experienced this before.  Typically, … (58 comments)

austin texas homes: Are you handling your clients like a phone company handles customers? - 09/22/07 09:52 AM

About five years ago, I was working with a buyer who was considering building in a prestigious golf course community in west Austin.  My business partners and I had already taken a number of people to the community, as it is pretty unique.  In fact, here is a photo of a home we recently sold in the same area ------------------->
My buyer was a high-risk obstetrician looking to retire from the Omaha area after only 10 years in business.  He came to look at some golf course lots and made a choice with the sales rep.  We did a "hold" on the lots … (44 comments)

austin texas homes: Austin Real Estate - What can I buy for $200,000 in the Austin area? - 09/18/07 10:40 AM
As a broker, this is the type of question that I am asked somewhat frequently.  What will $______ buy in your market?  Sometimes, this comes from relocating buyers, and sometimes it comes from potential investors from other areas of the country.
Well, in an effort to answer this for the $200,000 price point, I would like to present a few current listings that are priced at EXACTLY $200,000 in order to give a proper cross-section.

First, we have a home in the Avery Ranch subdivision, which is a master-planned golf course community located between Round Rock and Cedar Park … (30 comments)
