Moose Monday - Moose See!  Moose at Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park

Do you see the moose in the photo?  Then it must be Moose Monday!  :-)
Yes, it took me over two months to get another post here on ActiveRain (and I am content to make sure I get one post in every other month to keep this mainly photo blog accessible to the public). For all my friends here on AR, rest assured, I am doing well in Montreal, Canada. Life sometimes takes unexpected turns and you just need to accept them, move on and get stronger from the experience.

moose monday: Moose Monday - CAPITAL Moose! - 03/27/11 11:00 PM
A couple of weeks ago I visited Ottawa, the capital of Canada and little and behold I found moose.
It is not the real kind which I was lucky enough to photograph in Montana but I was very surprised to run across them...

... at the entrance of the Canadian Museum of Nature.

Here is a closer look at two moose (on the wall) between the entrance doors to greet visors.

So naturally, I decided to take a peak inside and what is the first thing I noticed in the lobby of the museum?  Another … (18 comments)

Moose Monday - The Hungry Moose in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec
After heading to Saint-Sauveur to grab a bite to eat prior to returning to Montreal from our getwaway in Val David (Feels Like Montana in Val David, Quebec), I ran across some interesting moose...
At a corner of a street on Main Street (rue Principale) in Saint-Sauveur was a restaurant very decorated for the holidays and a subject just calling attention to be photographed for an apparence in today's Moose Monday.

Now, how often do you see a hungry moose carrying a fork with them? :)

This was my first moose with fork sighting!  :)
As I mentioned this restaurant was … (22 comments)

moose monday: Moose Monday - Those Strange Places Where You Find Moose! - 10/11/10 05:05 AM
It's Moose Monday and I got a very heavy and solid moose to share from Red Lodge, Montana.  It is actually made of steel and reinforced so it can withstand any bear attack!

This moose made of steel can be found on a heavy duty garbage can at the corner of 11th Street and Broadway Avenue in Red Lodge.

Now something you don't see often, two bull moose in the same photo!
This moose art garbage can is appropriately located next to The Pollard which has moose in its logo.  The Pollard Hotel is … (25 comments)

Moose Monday - Swimming in a Moosely Private Lake in Yellowstone National Park
This is another photo of the breathtaking scenery in Yellowstone National Park during my most recent visit in July 2010.
Moose be nice to have your own private lake to swim in.  Mama moose and baby moose where enjoying the morning swim across the lake.

Notice the snow caps in July in the background?    The elevation is between 7,000 and 8,000 feet above sea level so the snow is still common on the mountain peaks in July throughout the park.
Happy Moose Monday!

moose monday: Moose Monday - Welcome Friends! - 08/09/10 06:06 PM

I found this sign at this year's Carbon County Habitat for Humanity rummage sale.   I said to myself "I moose have it!" and I did not hesitate to buy it and donate money to a great cause.  It is now sitting right next to the entrance door of my house.
I take this opportunity to say thank you to all my friends who have contributed to the Moose Monday group.

Moose Monday - It is Easy to Participate in the Moose Monday Group - PEACE LOVE MOOSE, America's Moose Wanted and Other Lovely of Moose from Yellowstone National Park
So I did manage to finally see real moose on my latest visit to Yellowstone National Park.  It happened in the very last hour of my visit just before I left the park.
I was pleasantly surprised.  I took the following photos at one of the many souvenir and gift shops, thinking I would not see any real moose.  Here are other kind of moose you may see.  They may not be real but I hope that they … (18 comments)

moose monday: Moose Monday - I Saw Moose in Yellowstone National Park! - 07/25/10 07:47 PM
Moose Monday - I Saw Moose in Yellowstone National Park!
I was lucky to spot this mother and calf from a distance (near the bottom center of the following photo).

Then they decided to swim in the lake.   See photo in last week's post: Moose Monday - Moose Memorable Moment of My Latest Visit to Yellowstone National Park
I had to run to my car and to safety once I saw in my viewfinder that the moose where swimming in my direction (objects/animals may be closer than you realize by the time you stop looking through the viewfinder!).
From the seat … (21 comments)

Moose Monday - Moose Memorable Moment of My Latest Visit to Yellowstone National Park
No, it is not Wordless Wednesday (it's Moose Monday) but words could not describe my first moose sighting in Yellowstone National Park.   I had been to Yellowstone National Park 3 times last year but with no luck with regards to spotting my favorite wild animal.  I was hoping this would change on my most recent and first visit to the park in 2010 and it did just in the nick of time on day 2!
As I was planning to leave the park from the East entrance, I spotted not one, but … (23 comments)

Moose Monday - Moose in the Sky, You Know How I Feel - Guess Which Direction I Am Headed?
I am heading to Yellowstone National Park and just before I head out of the house here are a couple of photos for Moose Monday.

If the moose in the sky is a sign, I moose be headed towards some great photo shooting opportunities!  :)
Who knew that there are moose in the sky?    This one must have been on cloud 9.

I am sure I will soon be too as I am moosely excited to see and take photos of what awaits me … (18 comments)

Mocha Moose Espresso - The Moose is Loose in Roberts, Montana
On Sunday, during the Red Lodge July 4th parade, I made another moose sighting.
No, a real moose did not decide to come down on main street wearing red, white and blue but the moose moosely appeared by surprise in the logo and name of a new coffee place in Roberts, Montana called Mocha Moose Espresso.  Roberts is only 13 miles north of Red Lodge and on highway 212 towards Billings, Montana.  The exact address is 310 S Railway Avenue on the south end of Roberts.
Here is the photo I moosely wanted … (22 comments)

A Moose Visit to the Beartooth Nature Center in Red Lodge, Montana
I enjoy giving private guided tours at the Beartooth Nature Center (BNC): www.beartoothnaturecenter.org
After one of my most recent tours, I stumbled on a plush toy moose (feel free to come up with a name for him) and decided to show him around the BNC.
When I presented him to Rudy, the mule deer, this was the reaction.

How cute?  Don't you agree?

When I presented him to Clyde, the coyote, this was the reaction.

Scary, isn't it?   [PLEASE SEE MY COMMENT (#17) BELOW THIS POST]
