In the last 5 years I have seen The Fort Myers Downtown Commercial District, also known as the Historic District and part of the newly called River District transformed into one of the great areas of South West Florida. The proud Royal Palms and landscaping  breaks Mc Gregor's center and side streets with grandiose beauty. It is after all called the City of Palms.   This pristine  area flows from Bay and Lee Street, Anderson and Monroe Street . nestled between the Caloosahatchee river and a few blocks Est of the famed Mc Gregor Blvd. Its center piece de resistance the Edison estate and Henry Ford summer house. It became a full fledge Historic District in 1990. There are now over 60 registered historical homes Because the town was not officially platted and created until 1876 when it had only 976 residents, and having lived for many years in Massachusetts, The title of Historic District did not have much resonance. But this is not your run of the mill Historic District. In a tradition started in the 1930's in Charleston and Savannah, where local authorities realized that preserving certain buildings would also put their city on the map and at the same time make resident proud of their area.

It is a great time for these lovers of historic homes and historic areas to take a closer look at Fort Myers. For more information on homes for sale in the Historic District or the River District feel free to contact me. There are many interesting historic district in Florida, Key West has one, so has Naples, St Augustine, and Miami but Fort Myers certainly is among the top. Its history, closely linked to Flager, Edison and Ford has a deep rooted heritage which has produced throughout the last 100 years and more some distinctive homes along the majestic  Mc Gregor Boulevard and the Caloosahatchee river. The area, also part of the River District, is going through a major re-development and planning make over. The results have been dramatic and spectacular. It is a good time to get your foot in the door before prices go up again.

Maggie from Miami: I have used bebo.com for some time now. Jeff Turner had this great blog comparing the top media software.  You may also download videos, though I don't know how well they face up against Videoegg or Facebook.Interesting about historic areas. If you look more closely, each one of these homes is telling a story.
