REAL ESTATE IS CHANGING ARE YOU KEEPING UP

REAL ESTATE IS CHANGING ARE YOU KEEPING UP  Real estate has changed more in the last 10 years than in the previous 20 years.  Technology has provided the public with more information and more options than ever before.  Technology, including the internet, has hastened the change in the real estate industry.  The changes have been truly breathtaking.

Consumers are taking a more active role in their real estate search due to the internet.  They know more, they are want more and they want us to respond immediately to their requests.

All the tools that are available to Realtors and their customers weren't available ten years ago.  Smart phones, Youtube video tours, interactive maps, instant messaging plus all that the internet offers, have made information accessible at a moment notice.

One of the best ways to help your client and manage their demands is to see what they see.   Find out what sites they are visiting and check them out.  The internet provides a large amount of unstructured information.  We must provide visual structured knowledge - relevant neighborhood information and videos about those neighborhoods, maps of points of interest, information about the current market in graph or chart form.

Customers expect us to use technology to make life more convenient for them.  Their experience affects how customers feel about doing business with us and that will determine their loyalty.

Let the consumer know that you know your area.  I blog quite a bit about the city in which I work.  I have blogged about local events and parks and I include lots of pictures and videos.  I will soon be blogging about schools, neighborhoods, businesses and restaurants.

Consider making video testimonials of your clients describing their experience with you.  Or shoot a short video of your referral and resources team.  You can interview team members about what they will do for your customers.

Evelyn, I can remember the old days when we stopped at phone booths and had really slow MLS computers than printed onto that funny paper.  No electronic lock boxes.  No I-Pads.  In fact, there wasn't a single PC in my first real estate office.  Yeah, it's different!

You correct.  Over the past couple years the technology has really gone high tech.  In this fast paced world with information at your fingertips instantly it is good to remember you still cant replace great customer service with an electronic device.  Good old fashioned sales skills still come in handy.

Patricia:  I remember those days, too.  I remember the first cell phone I had.  It was huge, clumsy and didn't work half the time.  Those were not the good old days.  Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.

Jennifer:  Hopefully, that will never change.  Technology can't replace us, at least I hope not.  Thanks for your comment.  I really appreciate.

Evelyn ..... having been around since real estate offers were typed on a typewriter ..... and you had to know where every pay phone was in case you needed to call ..... to make an appointment on a property you just drove by ..... with a prospective buyer in the the car with you ..... who was busy looking through the little black binder that held all those little sheets of paper that contained the listings we recieved each day.

Kathy:

Me too.  Technology has made our job so much easier.  But keeping up with the technological changes can be daunting.  Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comment.

Evelyn - I've been the business for 10 years and I have seen A TON of changes.  10 years ago I think only one agent in our office had their very own website.

Michelle:

I have had my website for a long time, maybe 10 years.  Someone came to our office to sell us websites and I did it just to get my url with my name.  But it is true most of us did not have website then.  I actually love the changes.  They are so exciting but most have a learning curve.  Thanks for visiting my blog.
