Lebanon's Christmas Festival Horse Drawn Carriage Parade December 1 2012
The Lebanon Christmas Tree was lit last Friday, and now it's time to get serious about Christmas in Lebanon with the 24th Annual Lebanon Christmas Festival Horse Drawn Carriage Parade on December 1st 2012! With a parade at 1 p.m. and a repeat performance at 7 p.m. with candlelight, there will be close to 100 horse drawn carriages. You want Clydesdales? Got 'em! Little itty bitty ponies? Got those too! They'll make you say awwwwwww! And of course all sizes in between pulling decorated carriages and wagons! We're getting some snow flurries tonight, so who knows what the weather will be like Saturday?
Lebanon's Christmas Festival Horse Drawn Carriage Parade is sure to have another sizable turn-out, but why wouldn't it? This is a family holiday tradition for our area. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be wandering the area providing photo ops! Vendors will have hot chocolate and food to keep you warm. A few character actors in historic garb singing Christmas carols add to the atmosphere. This is a guaranteed enjoyable time (unless you forget the dressing warm part!).
You may even want to watch both the 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. tours, so take advantage of the in-between time to support our local small businesses. Maybe get some food to warm you up at 180 Cafe, shop for some unique presents up and down Broadway and the side streets and you just might finish a large part of your Christmas shopping!
Now as far as parking, there are some public lots for free, but don't expect those spots to last long! You'll also have free enterprise at work and parking nearby for about $5, or you can park on the residential streets for free. Allow plenty of time to find a spot and wear your walking shoes because you're probably going to be a few blocks away (at least!) if you go for the neighborhood spots.
Lots of people bring their collapsible chairs and grab a spot on Broadway for prime viewing, that the route boxes around downtown, so there are other spots that will work for watching the show!
So dress warmly and have a great time at the parade!
