localism: Whatever Happened To Localism? - 03/01/11 09:26 PM

Whatever happened to Localism?

I woke up at 2:00 a.m. (which is getting to be more normal than I would like) and did what all Late-Night-Rainers do.  I went to the computer.
Tonight, I decided to work on updating some of my old posts ~ the ones written back before I knew anything about links, tags and SEO.
From the Active Rain Dashboard, I clicked on Important Links: Localism, and I discovered a funny thing.

It seems to be the abandoned red-headed stepchild of the Active Rain Real Estate Network!
With one exception (the blue "e-mail me" link … (20 comments)

localism: Silly Saturday Post: Woody Woodpecker Trashes Home in Madera Canyon, AZ - 05/17/08 03:07 PM
I loved Woody Woodpecker when I was a kid!  That's before I knew he really did things like this!
The Acorn Woodpecker really works at his craft.  Wikipedia says the bird is a "larder hoarder."  Say THAT three time fast!  I was hiking in Madera Canyon this morning and took this photo.  What's amazing is that the cabin is owned by the Park Service!
All those little dots you see on the gable end of the house?  They're acorns!  The little guy drills holes, finds acorns, and fills the holes with food for the winter!  Pretty ingenious!
Someone once told me … (18 comments)

localism: Tucson Estates II Neighborhood Watch Program Success - 10/07/07 04:10 PM

150 residents of the gated community called Tucson Estates II showed up for an ice cream social to celebrate our successful implementation of the Neighborhood Watch Program.
Representatives of the Pima County Sheriff's Department attended as well.

Burglary:  Zero Larceny:  Zero Stolen Vehicles: Zero Vandalism:  One Suspicious Activity: One Nestled in the shadow of … (18 comments)

localism: Impossible? Your Perspective May Need to Change! - 08/25/07 06:15 PM
"I'm too old for this !$%#%!"  Complaining loudly to no one in particular, a hiker came into view 50 or 60 feet below me.
"How old are you?" I called.  George (79) and I (55) were coming down from the summit of Picacho Peak, the site of the western-most battle of the Civil War.  We were walking.  The only mountain climbing gear we had were walking sticks made from the stalks of an agave.
The photo to the left is deceiving.  You'll get a sense of the height  and size of the mountain when I tell you that those tiny vertical … (29 comments)

Inman posted this interview on August 22.  The Platial site allows us to add layers of content to maps, and to easily export to our own venues.  I think this will be huge for me.  Take a listen, and please comment with your idea on HOW we can use this in our businesses.
Real Estate Video by - Real Estate Blogger Let's start a list of ways we can use this tool to add value to listings, presentations, etc.  I also think it could be a useful tool for our Localism posts.
