In Texas we receive our estimated property tax assesments in April and May and have until May 31st, to protest for our property values for our 2011 property taxes. The final evaluation comes out the end of October and our taxes are due and payable by December 31st if you want to take a property tax deduction on your 2011 income taxes. Otherwise you have until January 31st of the next year before property taxes are delinquent.

Every year we compile a spreadsheet with all the sold properties in the year before and the start of the year in our community to help the residents make their pleas. The tax appraisal district is making a determination on what your home is worth on January first of every year. We have been flooded with calls to get our reports so they can see if they should be protesting. We've already had some calls that residents feel they have a strong case to get their valuations lowered. We love helping our fellow residents out with our yearly reports.

We established this form of reporting years ago and has proved to be very helpful to many more people in our community. There are certain residents that protest every year and use our data!
