One of my family's favorite places on the Crystal Coast is the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. Not only do you learn about Maritime History & Coastal Living, boat building, the Seafood Industry and Whales.... You will learn all about Blackbeard and the Queen Anne's Revenge. The Queen Anne's Revenge was discovered off our coast and the museum is home to many relics from the ship, along with TONS of history & stories about Blackbeard. This past weekend my family had the priviledge of participating in the "Beach Sweep" with the Cub Scouts Pack 130 of Morehead City.
The purpose was to remove any trash or debris from the Rachel Carson Reserve in honor of "National Estuaries Day".
If you are on the Beaufort Waterfront, and look across Taylor's Creek, you will see a complex of small islands; Carrot Island, Town Marsh, Horse Island & Bird Shoal. Those small islands make up the Rachel Carson Reserve.

Fort Benjamin Park in Newport, North Carolina was completed in April, 2011, and is absolutely fabulous. The park has something for everyone and is in pristine condition. With six lighted tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball court, 2 picnic shelters, baseball fields, playground, shuffleboard court, band shell, bocce/croquet lawn, 1 mile Fitness trail with excercise stations, and Recreation Center, the public park is a wonderful place to visit. Vacation Bible School on the Crystal Coast
St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church in Salter Path, North Carolina will be hosting their 1st annual Vacation Bible School.
The theme for the week is "It's a Miracle". They will have lessons each day, but there will also be lots of games, arts & crafts and wonderful snacks. Can one rotten lime ruin the whole pie?
Several years ago, my brother-in-law and I decided that we would cook Thanksgiving Dinner for everyone. I was in charge of dessert, and since Key Lime Pie is one of my favorites, I decided to make one. I bought everything we needed, including fresh limes, and we were ready to go.
The turkey was dry (remember that scene in Christmas Vacation), the dressing wasn't dry enough, and the pie..... well, one rotten lime ruined it! It was disgusting!

No, My coffee pot is not broken. We are not out camping somewhere..... We just returned home from Wrightsville Beach, where we had the pleasure of seeing Cinnamon Wright & Zoe & Tish Lloyd again. Not only that, but the one & only Roger Mucci was in town, and his hotel room just happen to be next door to ours! How lucky was that?

When I was a kid, I thought Janette hung the moon (still do), and all of my cousins thought the same thing. She was the oldest grandchild to my sweet grandmother, Mary Jean Ralph, who lost her life to cancer in February of 1977. In January of 2012, at the age of 46, Janette lost her battle with brain cancer. My baby will be seven years old this weekend. Having a winter birthday has been tough for his dad and me, because we can't just stick the kids in the back yard or have a pool party, beach party, etc. We sometimes must be creative or we'll have a house full of little boys running around tormenting the kitties and the dog, and well, that's not fair to the cats..... and I can't deal with that!

I think we all agree that looks can sometimes be deceiving. Take this old blue jeep for instance. Many people would drive right on by without even considering stopping off for some fresh local Seafood. But, while the vehicle itself may look pretty rough, the products that High Tide Seafood offer are Fabulous. Just about any time, if you take the time to look past the jeep, you'll see a tented area, and you'll see a line of folks waiting for their fresh, local seafood. Now, I'm certainly no Fashionista, but I do love clothes. I especially love shoes and bags! According to the latest fashion mags & websites, anything old is in style this fall/winter. Not only are 40's, 50's and 60's fashion hot, but so are the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now, I loved the eighties, I drive my husband crazy with 80's music, but the fashion.... I'm not so sure about.
